Cab driver said the hotel was not very nice. I totally disagree. From the front door staff to check in to concierge and the newly renovated room, I thought it was fantastic. I would definitely stay there again, very upscale and affordable.

Business serviceWhen Atlanta closed their runways, our plane was diverted, and it looked like I wasn't going to get to the airport until about midnight, and then would encounter hundreds of stranded travelers in a taxi line to get to the hotel. I called the hotel and told them my predicament. They responded so nicely and even tried to get me a taxi.
After arrival at about 1:30AM, from the doormen to the front desk, I found the service to be rather unbelievable. Perhaps it's southern hospitality, but I think several employees went the extra mile.
When I made it to the hotel, Derrick B. inquired whether I had been able to have dinner. When I said no, he bought some items from the convenience shop and delivered to my door. He did not want a tip and disappeared before I could find my purse.
When I left the hotel a few days later at 6:15AM, he greeted me and asked if I had had coffee, since it was not available until later. He went and got coffee for my ride to the airport.
The hotel, while older, was extremely clean; the amenities were wonderful - Wall St, Journal and USA Today at the door, sewing kit, cotton swabs, nice shampoo and most importantly comfy bed and pillows.
If there is any complaint, it is the sound insulation - hallways tended to be noisy and late at night it did not seem like a safe place.
Hats off to the red coat guys and gals at the downtown Marriott who made what otherwise would have been a nightmare stay, very pleasant and memorable.
The staff at this hotel are exceptionally friendly starting with the doorman and continuing through the front desk and restaurant. The hotel is very conveniently located within walking distance of the CNN Center, Phipps Arena, Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Park, and World of Coke. The rooms are very nice but somewhat small as typical in a downtown hotel. Only drawback for our family was that there are two full size beds which aren't comfortable at all for adults. Breakfast at the restaurant was good but the buffet was somewhat limited in variety and was expensive. We booked an Aquarium Package which was a good value.

ServiceWe were traveling to Tampa Florida from North Carolina for Thanksgiving and went out of our way to stay at the Marriott to go to the Atlanta Aquarium. The overall appearance of the hotel is very nice and the front desk help was super. Our double beds were very cramped and the A/C was so loud it woke me up everytime it came on. I am a pretty sound sleeper if this gives you any idea. DON"T walk around at night. We had no less than 10 homeless folks asking us for money. All those things were tolerable. WHAT WAS NOT TOLERABLE is the valet scraped our new dodge charger on the ramp into the parking garage and the manager assured us they would take care of the damage. This car was dent and scratch free. We are the people who park in the back of a parking lot just so people won't park next to us. The damage is about $500 to $700 but Marriott and their contract with AAA Parking has declined our claim 3 times and told us on the phone that they deny all claims of this nature. So I have no idea what claims they actually pay. When we contacted Marriott corporation they just referred us back to AAA Parking and the Atlanta Downtown Manager. So if you don't want to risk your car being damaged I suggest you not book a room at this hotel. We WERE loyal Marriott reward customers and use Marriott hotel exclusively for our yearly Spring break Williamsburg trips. Marriott, if you are reading this I will revise or post new reviews when the situation is rectified. I can't believe you would rather risk losing a loyal customer over $500 when we can spend that much money in one stay with you. In addition to this, my son left his jacket in the room after we checked out. I called that day and told them exactly where it was and housekeeper already cleaned the room. When I called I was told that lost and found was closed (6pm) and someone would call me back. No one called back and I called three addition times and no jacket was located. You can put two and two together.

ServiceStayed here one night on business trip. Check-in/check-out easy and professional. Was able to request late check-out. Business center computer with internet and printer to print out boarding passes. Room facing Spring Street with some traffic noise at night, but still slept fairly well. The beds are so comfortable. A couple blocks walk from metro station if you want to take it to/from airport.
