My other half and I spent Thanksgiving Friday through Sunday here, and it was definitely a pleasant stay in room 643. With the exception of an odd (very odd) white stain that I happened to notice on the white sheer curtain of the window, the room was clean.
The couch in the living area was hard and definitely did not sit comfortably. If you don't plan to sit there, then you won't have a problem. The bed was super-comfy!
The bathrooms were decent enough in size, as was the clothing closet. In our room, the hairdryer was "missing in action" in the bathroom, and three holes remained in the wall where the unit used to be. I happened upon a portable one in the closet. Not the first place I would've looked...so ladies who might also need a hair dryer, you might want to look there. :)
Now, a warning for those who might use the hotel's shampoo and conditioner products. Wow, the stuff they had was awful for hair that borders oily. I'm not sure how it would do on dry hair, but for the normal-to-oily folks, it was bad. By Sunday, my hair was limp and begging for mercy. It's the first time in awhile that I've used a shampoo (notice, it wasn't a two-in-one...stricly shampoo) that left my hair feeling oily and icky. The conditioner wasn't much better--so thick and heavy that it plopped out of the bottle. Just say no to the hotel's product and bring your own if you're staying for more than a few days.
The evening refreshments were limited to chips with dip, but the drinks were served up readily. Two free drinks per guests, but please do bring a dollar or two to tip the server.
The first night, we had two pieces of chocolate in our room as part of the turn-down service. As a chocolate-addict, this was quite delightful to find. The second night, though, :( no chocolate. Darnit.
Breakfast the first morning we were there was great! There was a bit of a line for the personalized omletts, but as they were a healthy size, it was worth it. The second morning, though, found the potatoes and sausage unacceptably cold, the scrambled eggs not quite done, and things just generally "off." I must mention, though, that the staff in the restaurant at breakfast are great.
An earlier reviewer said that the water tasted funny. He or she is absolutely right. If you need to rinse your mouth out after brushing your teeth, the hotel has installed a smaller faucet in the restrooms with filtered water. Be sure to use that.
One last thing...the parking. Yes, it's an additional $22 "overnight" and it does have unlimited in-out privileges. What's not mentioned is that if you plan to leave your car past check-out time, expect to pay an additional $12 for this service. Hmm. Although I understand that, I certainly didn't like it. So, plan accordingly.
If you choose to stay on the park side, ask for a room closer to the horizontal center of the hotel. Staying in room 643, on the right side of the hotel, meant that when we laid in bed, we had a great view--of buildings. :( If we flipped around, with our heads near the foot of the bed, we had a much better view. So, if you want to be able to lay in bed, and stare down at the people, get one of those center rooms. :)
All-in-all, with the price I had for the hotel, the location, and the amenities, I would absolutely stay again. In fact, I may book a room there for the parents!
