“Good price for a stopover”

Days Inn Downtown

Jul 18, 2008

The hotel was a good price when I pre-paid on the internet. The room was nicer than I expected, with a fridge and sink in the room, plus a good bathroom with power shower and plenty of hot water. It was a very good size too with 2 double beds. The location isn't bad for downtown although we didn't wait the 40 minutes quoted when I phoned for the courtesy bus from the airport and got a cab instead. It wasn't far. The bus gave us a ride to the railroad the next morning at 5:30 even though we hadn't prearranged this. The staff were pleasant enough. We received the level of service you would expect from a budget chain - it was fine.

    • Disliked — room too warm, couldn't work out the air con and too noisy to leave window open.

“Do not stay at this "hotel."”

Days Inn Downtown

Jul 16, 2008

The first problem started with checkin. We had a party of 12 and only one room was ready at that time. We had requested a handicapped room and did not get a handicapped room. The "hotel" only had us paid for one night, when in fact our credit card had already been billed for two nights. They gave us a room without air conditioning which is completely unacceptable. After moving rooms (when they were finally ready), we finally were able to unpack, at about 4.
The front desk service was horrendous. Most people behind the counter were completely rude to us.
No breakfast service at all. But they are partnered with the Country Kitchen which isn't that great.
It is in a bad part of town but within a few blocks from shops and attractions.
While they couldn't have our room ready by two, housekeeping knocked on our door around 8. That in itself is ridiculous. If you can't have our room ready by 2, then don't clean it until 2.
Most definitely the worst "hotel" I've ever stayed at. Sure, you get what you pay for, but we didn't even get that.

“Adequate for our needs”

Days Inn Downtown

4 of 5 stars
Austin, Texas
Jun 24, 2008

We were in Anchorage for the Mayor's Marathon. Though the Days Inn is not a big fancy hotel, the room that we got was clean, comfortable, *quiet* and completely adequate for our needs. We did not have a car while we were in Anchorage, so we appreciated the airport transportation and the fact that the hotel is within easy walking distance of most everything in downtown Anchorage. We had a non-smoking room, and did not notice anyone smoking anywhere inside the hotel while we were there. Since our flight left quite late on Sunday evening, we also appreciated that the hotel was willing to store our luggage after we checked out on Sunday morning, and take us to the airport on Sunday evening, leaving us free to do some additional sightseeing in Anchorage before we had to leave.

In addition to all the above, there is a nice little cafe (Country Kitchen) right across the street that is open 24/7 in the summertime, that has really good blueberry pancakes. The complimentary 24/7 coffee and tea service in the hotel lobby was also very much appreciated by this tourist from another time zone. :-)

“Stopover before a cruise”

Days Inn Downtown

Jun 2, 2008

We (family of 4) stayed at this hotel as a stop over before a cruise. The hotel was prompt picking us up at the airport when we arrived and taking us to the nearby train depot (for the train trip to Whittier, where our cruise ship was departing from) when we departed.

As far as the stay at the hotel...
We had requested a roll away bed when we booked the room, and when we arrived they brought it promptly to our room. We have had problems at other hotels either not having the requested roll away bed or taking a long time to bring it to the room.

Because of the hotel's location in downtown there were a couple street people loitering in the coffee area one morning. When the hotel staff member noticed them she quickly and politely got them to leave.

One of the downsides is that no breakfast included. However, the rooms were comfortable and in good condition as was the hotel in general. I would recommend the hotel for people looking for a good mid priced hotel who are planning to stay a day or two.

“Not Bad but not that Good.....”

Days Inn Downtown

2 of 5 stars

Got a good rate by booking online, but if you need to change or cancel for any reason, they will not give you a refund. The location is way down town and nearest place to buy snacks is far away. They don't even have a gas station to buy snacks near by. It is by a main street and is noisy with traffic. The room I stayed in is not bad, looks like a newly renovated room but the tv has a constant buzzing noise and the picture quality is not so good on some channels. Several times the tv went completely blank. The bars of soap and shampoo bottles are very tiny, hand soap finishes after a couple of washes and shampoo is good for only 1 use. You have to ask for them everyday. The room has a nice size fridge and a microwave though. nice to re-heat left over dinners for lunch.
