What else can be said that hasn't been? The location is great, the hosts are wonderful and have everything you could ever need for your vacation (towels, snorkel geat, beach shoes (yes - tons of different sizes!), coolers, a stocked fridge of drinks, washer/dryer, fresh fruit and about 100 other things.

Amy was terrific at welcoming us and making us feel at home. She also managed the careful balance of being available to answer questions and give advice (and let us get to know the animals!), while not being around too much so we could just spend time together on our honeymoon. The accomodations were great and the ranch is a perfcet launching off place being close enough to the popular Kona areas while not feeling like you are in a hotel strip.

This really is one of those places that you can give an unqualified recommendation for.

Amy and Rick are gracious hosts. The property is beautiful. It's set in the mountains with ocean views, and although it's removed from Kona, it's an advantage (cooler weather). I've stayed at Silver Oaks 4 times and I would definitely return again.

You know when you find a place so fantastic, you're just a teeny bit tempted to give it a bad review so it won't be overrun with people? Sigh. This is one of those rare places, that is so great you feel like you stumbled on to the deal of the century. The owners (Rick and Amy) couldn't have been more pleasant or gracious. They are also extremely knowledgeable, so be sure to ask them questions about where to go / what to do. Rick is also an amazing photographer - his photos, particularly the ones in the unit we stayed in (with the hot tub), are fantastic.

When we came in late on Thursday night, we found a refrigerator stocked with breakfast items for us (milk, OJ, farm fresh eggs, macademia bread, 2 yogurts, 2 bagels, cream cheese, a basket of fruit) - greatly appreciated with the late arrival. We also arrived during pineapple/banana season, so we had fresh pineapple (the best we've ever had) and bananas during our stay there. They also had laundry facilities and snorkels/boogie boards/beach towels/backpacks/water and juice/etc. available - everything was so accessible and easy, we truly felt like we were at home.

Really, I wish I could give this a higher review then 5 stars. They're great! Truly good people running a great place.

Everything people say about this property is spot on. What a great place to stay while exploring the island. Rick and Amy could not be more hospitable (they even brought us extra pineapples and popcorn flavored with Hawaiian sugar cane!!!) and they provide everything you need for beach excursions (chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, cold beverages etc.), as well as food in your fridge and access to washer/dryer. Our unit was sparkling clean and had every amenity we sould need. Our kids loved the animals, especially Gigi the cat! We left to go to a B&B on the other side of the island and they were nice enough to contact the B&B owner to get a message to us that we left a sweatshirt there. We picked it up on our way back to the airport. Very thoughtful people. I highly recommend Siver Oaks and thank Rick and Amy for making our stay so pleasant.

“A wonderful place to stay”

Silver Oaks Ranch

My wife and I stayed at Silver Oaks Ranch for a week, using it as a base to tour the island of Hawaii. We were in a separate guesthouse, with spacious living room, bedroom, kitchen facilities, and great support from the hosts. B&B is on the side of a mountain just above the airport. Rates are reasonable. Our hosts provided beach/water equipment, healthful breakfast food including local ranch produce, and excellent advice on attractions and restaurants. This is a quiet out-of-the-mainstream place, great for families.

Only negative (for me) was no sit down with hosts and other guests for breakfast. I like to talk with the natives and other travelers when we travel. I highly recommend Silver Oaks Ranch and will return there when visiting Hawaii.
