I and my girlfriend stayed at the Sol Koralj for 2 weeks in August 2005 and had an absolutely fantastic time! the staff there were all great and so friendly, they couldn't do enough for you. The weather was amazingly hot, we both came back amazingly brown!

The hotel itself is very nice, the rooms are spacious and clean with good views of the sea, I looked forward to waking up every morning to the view from the balcony, so make sure you get a sea view room. The hotel has everything you need; it has a gym, a trendy wine bar, a hair salon and a shop. The food is good, not anything extra special but I was quite happy with what was on offer.

It's a relaxed resort in the day reasonably busy by the beach but nothing major. But still plenty to do if you don't want to just lay around (if you do that's fine aswell, I know we did a fair bit!). We went on the Jet skis a few times, Paragliding and I even tried wakeboarding (which I failed miserably at)!

There is a Casino and a fantastic outdoor bar by the beach just in front of the hotel, which has some great entertainment, but, beware, serves some lethal cocktails! One to maybe try with extreme caution is the wiki woki woo (not sure if the spelling is right, but they'll know what you mean). Which our lovely holiday rep kindly introduced us to :)

We went with Thompson and were very impressed with the whole holiday from start to end. The excursions to go on are definitely; Venice - Well worth a look if you've never been before & They also organise a rafting trip to Slovenia which was a real adventure and I would recommend it greatly!

Overall the location was fantastic for what we wanted, which was a quiet holiday with a couple of bars and restauants to keep our interest in the evening but by no means is this a place to go if you are after a lively nightlife.

I and my family travel 4-6 times per year to various locations around the world we always stay at 4-5 star hotels, this time we had a short break in Umag, Croatia, Hotel Sol Koralj . very disappointed no way is it a 4 star standard, the buffet breakfast is below any standard I have com across, only the cheapest cold meats and cheeses are served (would not buy it for my table at home) The open-air disco was thumping until 04.30 am. no sleep whatsoever. called the night porter, was totally ignored. Would not recommend the Sol Koralj to my worst enemy.
