“Great Shrimp”

We had read the reviews and decided to check out this place. I had looked at other menus around the French Quarter and this menu had what I was looking for, Blackened Catfish. This was a good, filling plate. It came with mixed vegetables and jumbalaya. All very good and I would order it again. However, my wife ordered the fried shrimp and french fries and it was fantastic! I just tried one piece of shrimp but it was great! I am not a dessert person but my wife is and she could hardly breath after the shrimp plate so we passed on dessert. We did see people come in just for the dessert so it had to be good. Oceana Grill is just off of Bourbon Street so you can eat and then take 10 steps to Bourbon Street and enjoy the nightlife.

“Great food”

Although this is not the type place we would have just walked into (it's pretty much a dive), the concierge at our hotel recommended it for late night desserts. We ended up eating there twice during our long weekend stay. The bread pudding is the best we've had in New Orleans (made on-site, not off-site as a previous review said). When we came back a couple nights later for full dinner the food was equally as good and relatively inexpensive. One of the best parts was there were no long lines. Although the waitress was not terribly friendly the first night, her actual service was good. The second night a different waitress was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely eat here again.

“Fun, Funky, Friendly, Great Oysters!”

Had a local tell me about this place and went for a late lunch by myself and sat at the bar. Being in New Orleans means oysters to me and I'm picky. My dozen on the half shell were STUPENDOUS! Followed up with fried oysters and also GREAT. I was arrived a few minutes after lunch was over but the bartender told me to order off the lunch menu anyway (cheaper). I wouldn't have noticed, and she didn't have to do that. The staff was very friendly over all, the service was great and and the food was really, really good. While I was there, several locals came in picking up lunch orders to go. That's always a good sign. Prices are very reasonable. It's a hole in the wall but its really worth a visit.

“Loved this place”

We found a discount certificate online for this restaurant, read the reviews on TripAdvisor, and decided we needed to give it a try. We were not disappointed! The food was wonderful!

There was no wait on a Friday night, so we could walk right in, and up a couple of flights of stairs to our table. Our waitress was not much for smiling, but that was the only drawback.

As we looked over the menu, we ordered drinks, including the best, if not spiciest, Bloody Mary I've ever had.

For appetizers, we had a cup of excellent gumbo and very good jambalaya. My wife thought the jambalaya was too spicy (but she's that way), so we switched halfway.

For dinner, she had a wonderful barbeque shrimp dinner, with a great sauce - it wasn't just a bottle of something. Only problem was the shrimps weren't peeled, so take them up on the offer of a bib. I had the duck dinner, and it was great! The sauce had a sweet finish to it, so it was a different taste.

The French bread with dinner was just right, with a crispy crust and very soft and light on the inside.

For dessert we had one of the two homemade dishes - bread pudding. By this point we were stuffed and couldn't properly enjoy it... but we did anyway!

Thank goodness this restaurant is located just off Bourbon Street - that means there is an opportunity to walk off your meal afterwards!

As a hint, look for discount coupons to purchase online to save a few dollars. By French Quarter standards, this was not an expensive restaurant; the certificate made it an even better deal.

“Unexpected delight!”

The lineup at our original destination for breakfast turned out to be moving at a snail's pace so we went back out to Bourbon street and started looking for another. A fellow on the street corner was "hawking" the Oceana Grill. Although we had never heard of it we decided to give it a try. The service was great and the food was wonderful - large portions, reasonably priced and cooked just the way we requested. Also, they made the best Bloody Mary that I have had in NOLA! The food and value were so good that we returned there for lunch later in the week. My husband had the spicy Catfish poboy and I had the "Black and Blue" burger. Once again, we were very happy with both the food and service. The restaurant was busy, but not crowded, and the wait staff all wore long white aprons, giving it a touch of class that was unexpected when we first went in. This will definitely be a restaurant we return to on our next visit to NOLA.
