We stayed 5 nights in March 2004. This was my first B&B experience, as I typically prefer to be a bit more anonymous in larger accommodations. I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable a B&B experience could be, thanks in large part to the hosts at Block-Keller. The location itself is ideal if you're looking for a home base away from the crowds/noise of the French Quarter. We used the bus for the duration of our stay to reach the French Quarter and Garden District, but there is now an operating trolley stop right in front of the property. The house itself is beautifully refurbished and filled with antiques, yet most of the rooms have clean, modern fixtures and amenities (a real plus). If you're a dog lover and left your best friend at home, having Milo and Buster roaming the property is a special bonus.
Breakfasts were enjoyed in the lovely dining room...plenty of light items to choose from to start the day. There are a couple of great neighborhood restaurants within walking distance--it was so nice having a real "home" to return to at the end of a long, busy day. This was my first trip to New Orleans, and my next will definitely include a stay at Block-Keller.
