...Easy access to street car makes getting around a breeze!

This lovely B&B is situated in a fairly clean and quiet part of New Orleans mid-town area. We were very happy to be outside of the French Quarter but still have nice restaurants within walking distance and easy access to everything via the street car which stops right in front of Block-Keller. Free parking & brieakfast is a huge bonus when comparing prices with hotels in New Orleans. The house is beautifully decorated, rooms on the 3rd floor (didn't see the other rooms) are all MUCH larger than you'd expect at a typical hotel. Plus with sitting rooms on every level it was like having a suite. Bathrooms are clean with tile, granite and nice fixtures. We were travelling with our 5 & 8 year old children so I was hoping to find a place with a pool, but honestly the dogs were far more entertaining than a pool would have been. We would stay here again without any hesitation.

“Great home base”

We stayed 5 nights in March 2004. This was my first B&B experience, as I typically prefer to be a bit more anonymous in larger accommodations. I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable a B&B experience could be, thanks in large part to the hosts at Block-Keller. The location itself is ideal if you're looking for a home base away from the crowds/noise of the French Quarter. We used the bus for the duration of our stay to reach the French Quarter and Garden District, but there is now an operating trolley stop right in front of the property. The house itself is beautifully refurbished and filled with antiques, yet most of the rooms have clean, modern fixtures and amenities (a real plus). If you're a dog lover and left your best friend at home, having Milo and Buster roaming the property is a special bonus.
Breakfasts were enjoyed in the lovely dining room...plenty of light items to choose from to start the day. There are a couple of great neighborhood restaurants within walking distance--it was so nice having a real "home" to return to at the end of a long, busy day. This was my first trip to New Orleans, and my next will definitely include a stay at Block-Keller.

We spent five nights in November 2004 and agree with prior reviews that Block-Keller rates an excellent score. We stayed in the very quiet and spacious room #3 on the third floor. We met only our host Bryan, and he was very accommodating. Additionally, the B&B's location on the Canal Street Line was extremely convenient.

“Great location, great little place!”

Just came back from a three nights stay at the Block Keller House and here's the low down. The good things were: great location only about a 10 min. ride to Bourbon on the trolley (there is a stop right in front of the house). The house, hosts and the dogs were wonderful. Bryan was very available and willing to help. The best part for me was the bathrooms were spotless!! Breakfast was as good as continental breakfast could be...yogurt, cereals, oatmeal, fresh fruit, cheese, hot biscuts, and hard boiled eggs. The not so great part was since our room was in the basement at night when other guests came in you could hear the wood floors upstairs squeaking and if other guests in the basement were up late it would sound as if they were chatting right next to your bed. I guess that is to be expected in older houses. Speaking of beds that was the other not so great part (HARD). I would definatley return but I would make sure to get a room on the second or third floor this time.

“Great Hospitality”

My husband and I recently spent a delightful few days at this lovely old restored home and really felt like we were guests at the house of friends. We had a large, extremely comfortable room with a whirlpool tub, the breakfast was delicious and the hosts were very gracious. The location was very convenient for everything we wanted to do, though we had a car, which may have simplified getting around. The dogs were an added bonus. We definitely plan to visit again as soon as we can!
