“Very nice location - great service staff”

Obviously, this motel is a great place. I just wanted to add that the front desk folks are the best I've ever encountered. We needed to store our luggage the morning of our check in and it was not a problem whatsoever.
Mr. Stanley, as mentioned, is super friendly.
The location isn't in a shady area as a previous poster claimed. We felt perfectly safe walking back from the Vampire tour we took in the French Quarter! :)

“Excellent Stay”

Quality Inn & Suites Downtown

5 of 5 stars

This hotel was awesome. Not too far to walk to Bourbon St. and Canal St. The hotel staff is very helpful. The beds are very comfortable & almost like at home. We got the 2 room Queen which had separate rooms with a bathroom/kitchenette in the middle. This made for added privacy which is a plus (and it didn't cost any extra, you just have to request it). The room was always very clean & bed linens fresh. The only complaint I have is the bathtub. It is VERY slick. I fell & bruised my knee the first night of my stay. Just be careful. Otherwise, I give it an A+. Oh, the parking garage is a little shady from first impression but my friend got drunk, left his keys in his truck & dropped his wallet behind it and the next morning it was still there so it must not be too shady. LOL. Oh, & this is one of the few hotels that you don't have to pay for valet parking & internet. The parking is like $16/night which isn't too bad considering the alternative $20+/day at other hotels for valet plus tip.

“Good Value & Safe Area”

Quality Inn & Suites Downtown

4 of 5 stars
East of England
May 3, 2008

To contradict the last review, we are in our 60's and never felt unsafe in this area of New Orleans.
It's a great location just minutes from the French Quarter and the main stopping place for the Streeet Car to the Garden District.
We were lucky to get an upgrade from the very efficient manager (Stanley), he loves the Hornets! and he can also advise on eating places etc.
Also all of the staff were effective and friendly and the rooms were very clean.
he hotel advertises a Continental Breakfast, it's more than that, Bacon, Eggs, Waffeles, Yoghurt, frest Fruit, orange Coffee, etc. etc. it is very good.
Only one slight problem, if the people in the next room have an early shower, you can hear the shower running.

“Superb staff and excellent value!”

Quality Inn & Suites Downtown

May 1, 2008

My husband and I arrived in New Orleans on Wednesday 4/23/08 for the first weekend of Jazz Fest. As we drove up to the hotel we became a bit concerned. The hotel is located in the business district and it quiets down after 5pm. We walked in to be greeted by a very warm and helpful staff. Everyone was super helpful in helping us to navigate the city. Once we were settled in, we set out on foot to explore our surroundings. We walked a short distance up to Canal street where we found many shops and things to check out. The hotel is not in the middle of all the action, but for the money, you can't beat it. The walk is not bad at all. The parking deck is (diagonally) across the street. We parked our car and never got back in until time to leave. We were able to walk to the French Quarter and took the street car to the fair grounds. If you plan to spend your time out sight seeing and taking tours, this is a great hotel. However, if you plan to sit in your room and view the action from your hotel room, you will want to go with another hotel. Thanks again to the staff at Quality Inn. You guys are really great!!

“Nice inside, not so nice outside”

Quality Inn & Suites Downtown

3 of 5 stars
New Jersey
Mar 14, 2008

Once you are inside, there isn't too much more you could ask for in a moderately priced hotel. The staff is great, the place is clean, and there's a fitness room (sort of).

However, I cannot honestly say that I consider it to be located in a safe neighborhood. If you are coming to New Orleans, spend a few dollars extra and stay closer to the river (Sheraton, Hilton, Marriott, Harrah's, Doubletree, Ritz Carlton, Crowne Plaza, Westin, Wyndham, Holiday Inn, to name a few). This Quality Inn is unfortunately a few blocks off of Canal Street (a main road) and too far inland (where there are less people and not alot of action). The dark streets and shady characters can make a traveler a bit nervous at night. If you want the full experience (Bourbon Street, Decatur Street, Casino, River) the New Orleans Marriott or Sheraton is probably in the best location.

The positives of this hotel are the price and the staff. When I arrived (on an airport shuttle.. which, by the way, avoid! just split a cab with someone), my room was not ready so I was upgraded to a suite (two bedrooms, bathroom, sink, fridge) for no charge. The staff was able to recommend places to eat and things to do, also.

I would rate the staff a 5, the hotel itself a 4 (considering price), and the location is maybe a 1.5-2.
