The hotel was great! I had stayed there before as the Alexa Hotel . But was second guessing after readign some reviews. BUt... The staff was beyond nice---they extended our stay and even offered same discounted rate. When all travel webiste told me the hotel was booked, a front desk agent directly with hotel found me a room --- at a special rate ---- for Jazz Fest in NO! Staff was helpful and pleasent throughout stay. The Dickie Brennan's Bourbon House resyaurent is on propeorty and was Great oyster bar. Shuttle to JazzFest picks up and drops off direclty in front of hotel. easiet to and from in 9 yrs of festing. I highly recommend and will stay again!

“Great place to stay in the French Quarter”

I just returned from a four-night stay during Jazzfest April 23-27. I felt compelled to write a review because I think this hotel deserves to be higher than #66 popularity in New Orleans. We booked it as a "mystery hotel" through Bookit.com and were a bit concerned upon reading some of the older reviews here. Perhaps they cleaned up their act, because we found absolutely nothing to complain about. The location is great, of course...right in the heart of things in the French Quarter, and a short walk to the great restaurants of the Warehouse district. We were on the 14th floor and had a partial river view; it was very quiet. The room had all the usual amenities and a plethora of pillows, very comfortable beds, spacious, clean...all the cable stations. A "sleep pack" was provided with mask, ear plugs, a sleep CD, and an aromatherapy spray for your pillows! All of the staff were helpful and friendly. On a very rainy Fest day, there was an attendent greeting drenched guests at the door with warm towels! We only paid $89 for our "mystery room" but would not have been disappointed even at the going rate. Only hope we can get such a great deal again when we return.

“Not bad......”

Astor Crowne Plaza - French Quarter

Stayed here April 17-20th. Location is great. Right at the entrance to Bourban Street. One of my main concerns was the distance to Harrahs, as I like casinos. Distance was not far at all. Its probably a 10-15 min walk. Lots of people on the street, felt safe at all times. Hotel was nice, I was a little worried about some of the reviews on here. One complaint, the shower will turn off by itself sometimes, but only for a second or two. I guess someone next door was flushing the toilet or something. Beds are comfortable. Rooms was spacious. Hotel is old, but thats okay. We really didn't stay in the hotel much anyway. Walking to New Orleans Arena and Superdome is about 20 minute walk. Not really that bad. I do think that is is one of the nicer hotels near/in the french quarter. btw, limo service for 8 people from the airport to this hotel was only 90.00. a1regal is the company name. beats the cab prices.

Thank you for taking time to write your comments.

We definetly are in a great location and we are happy to report that we will be going through a complete rooms renovation in the middle of the summer.

Hoepfully you will have the opportunity to return to see our newly renovated rooms and get another chance to visit Harrah's

Booked this hotel on BookIt.com as a mystery hotel without knowing the hotel name. We got a great price and were delighted with the hotel when we arrived. It is on Canal Street on the edge of the French Quarter. The common areas were beautiful and well decorated. The employees were friendly and helpful. The streetcar stop was right out front and you can walk anywhere in the French Quarter, Business District or along the Riverfront from here. The room was beautiful and had all the amenities needed. Everything was very clean and the bed was soooo comfortable. The room was very quiet, the thermostat worked well and the water pressure was great with plenty of hot water. The fitness center had good equipment for a workout. I looked at numerous hotels before going and while I was there I saw several of the hotels I had looked at online and I did not see any I would rather have stayed with. I was surprised this hotel was rated only a 3 star. I am trying to figure out how to get the same hotel at the same price the next time I go.
