Paid close to $300 for this over-rated Marriot property.
Asked the front desk for a quiet room AWAY from noise, i.e. elevators, ice machines, vending, etc. Room given was 2 doors down from the ice, etc. Bed pillows smelled like an unwashed old man. Luxury towels included 2, only TWO, worn-out ,frayed, tiny bath towels. One expects more when requesting a concierge room--which wasn't initially given, and had to be asked for, even though the room rate indicated the upgraded room. This room was very noisy--the hotel room doors slammed constantly and the traffic continued all night with the horns beeping, loud stereos, etc. Yes, this is New Orleans, but some people like to sleep a few hours a night. Coffee machine could not be readily accessed to pour water into it unless you had the small hands of a 5 year old. A very poor design.
The only respite from the air of decay permeating New Orleans was the lobby of this hotel. How does a city expect more tourists if this is the price and condition of the so-called "luxury" hotel?
