The Drury Inn in New Orleans is a nice place to stay for the price. They are within walking distance of the Mississippi River and the French Quarter. Their complimentary breakfast is extremely good and they also offer free drinks and snacks (nachos, fruit, popcorn, chips and dip) in the evening. The front desk staff was very friendly. The rooftop pool was small, but offered quite a view of the city. The hotel is very secure and you have to use your key card to access the elevators. The rooms were very clean, but were small as were the beds. We would stay there again.

Not too bad for price. Liked the free drinks, popcorn, and breakfast. It fit our needs and was pretty convenient to a lot of points of interest. The front desk was very nice, let us check in early and was able to recommend a couple of restaurants for big families. Needed room key to access elevator, so we felt more secure. Rooms and bed were comfortable, no complaints.

I stayed here earlier this year for the Sugar Bowl. This is a really great place it is located on the same street (Poythress) as the Super Dome and Harrah's Casino, all are within walking distance. The hotel is very clean and the ceilings are about 12 foot tall with long windows. I guess it is a remodeled older building, it really adds a certain charm. They also have free breakfast, drinks, and popcorn. I stay here every time I go to the "Big Easy."

We got a good rate - $69/night - on this room that was very small, but very clean. The mattress was the best part. I usually wake up several times every night, but during our three-night stay at the Drury, I slept like a baby. And it wasn't the Bourbon Street margaritas. It was this perfect mattress! In fact, I'm currently trying to buy one directly from the manufacturer!

Okay, enough about the mattress. The hotel does indeed offer a happy hour from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Guests can have three free cocktails each and there was a snack buffet. I didn't have anything to eat -- didn't even look to see what was offered as it was too close to dinnertime, but I noticed a gentleman pouring melted cheese over nacho chips so that was one of the items. The breakfast was a lot of food -- scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles you make yourself, biscuits and gravy. Amazing that all of that stuff - the cocktails, snacks and breakfast, are all FREE.

Oh and what else is free is HBO and internet access. My husband really appreciated that because he had to take care of some pressing business concerns. They also have security precautions such as needing a room key to go up in the elevator.

The only bad thing about this hotel is that it was the furtherest away from the French Quarter than we've ever stayed - about four blocks west of Canal. For the most part, I felt safe walking back and forth. It's just that during the day, it was SO HOT and SO HUMID that sometimes those four blocks felt like four miles.

But overall the hotel was a great bargain and a really nice, clean place to stay.
