I checked-in this hotel on a Wednesday, and stayed until Saturday morning as I couldn't get out of the hotel as told by the website I booked with had spoken with the nasty, UNPROFESSIONAL manager. When I arrived, a lady was storming out the door past me. The red flag should've gone off...The nasty manager said to the desk clerk, "MISSISSIPPI" -Yea room #25". Which must be the worst piece-of-crap on the property! I dialed 0 to report the smoke alarm was hanging by the wires, and the curtain was hanging on the 1st day, it had not been remedied even when I checked out. See Pics...They don't change the sheets, but will make your bed. If someone partially use shampoo, you will get the leftovers in your bathroom. For breakfast, on Wednesday there was raisin bread and there was the same bread on Friday morning, too. They will tell you this-and-that is being renovated-a LIE! There was no renovation going on in the kitchen on neither day, and you will walk to the attached restaurant for ice...There's no FREE parking. Get prepared to park on the street, and feed the meters! I complained to the manager which states she just arrived there, but further states that she is the "OWNER". She didn't want to hear anything I had to say, and walked to her room #18. She slammed the door, and that's how complaints are handled. The only positive is the location.

“Wonderful!!!!!”

I had the experience to visit New Orleans since the devastation of 2005, and I must say that my recent trip was wonderful as a result of my accommodations. I experience the hospitality of Ms Liydia and Elvina the weekend, that was awesome. The location of the hotel and the many inexpensive eateries nearby made the stay that more pleasant. At the Avenue you are close enough to the French Quarter to party, but far enough away to relax and enjoy the Historic Garden District. Thank You Avenue for bringing New Orleans back to me!!!

“Great place to stay”

Avenue Garden Hotel

I stayed here during Jazz Fest and was expecting something not so nice but I was pleasantly surprised. We arrived in town very early and they let us check in to our room early and gave us garage parking spot for the whole weekend. The room was very clean and staff was very nice. I was very pleased w/ my stay and will definitely stay here again.

“Just right for me”

Avenue Garden Hotel

I booked this hotel on their website with no problems. The location is great, mid-between the French Quarter and the Garden District, both really accessible from the St. Charles street car stop right across the street. It's $1.25 each way for all streetcars, but you can get an all day pass at the desk for $3, or go down to the small market a few blocks down on the same side of the street for a 3 day pass. The hotel staff is nice and will help set up tours, but you can do this either on their computer (free internet) or call from your room. My room was comfy, with a mirror on the ceiling :) They do have balconies, but I wasn't able to get a room with it, instead my view was a blank wall across the alley, but that was ok. The window had a crack in it, housekeeping didn't clean inbetween days in my room, but I saw they did in others. Wasn't a problem though. The shower didn't work for me, but can't say it was broken...may have just been me. Baths were great though. The bed was a king and REALLY comfortable. Staff accomodated a wake up call. They are at the desk until 3am and very helpful with directions and safety measures. GREAT pizza literally 2 steps next door, and great BBQ on corner, 30 seconds away. Would stay here again, definitely. Oh, best part, $59 a night. Can't beat that!

“Fantastic value”

Avenue Garden Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Gainesville, FL
Apr 14, 2008

The Avenue Garden Hotel is a nice, small hotel in the Garden District in New Orleans. Located near a bunch of good (and relatively inexpensive) restaurants, it is in a good neighborhood, with easy access to a trolley that takes you to the French Quarter. We had a sizable group (8 people) and the staff bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable. All of that and price was hard to beat. If you don't expect anything too fancy you will be very satisfied.
