We were having trouble finding a not-so-expensive hotel in the NY area in december, so, after a lot of googling, we found the Quality Inn Brooklyn.
Some of the reviews seemed positive, so we decided to give it a try, for 179.99 USD per night.
The hotel itself is not bad, with a small lobby, but when we saw that the concierge was behind a very thick glass, and locked inside, we started questioning about the safety of the area.
The room was the best part of the deal, spacious, very clean, big LCD widescreen, with all the amenities and free wi-fi, while breakfast was the usual DIY fare, in a very small room (only two tables).
There are two very big drawbacks: the hotel is right next to a huge train bypass, meaning that you have to sleep with earplugs, and the area is quite scary, with piles of rubbish and abandoned cars.
The walk to the subway station (just two blocks away) was not the most pleasant experience, and we never dared to do it at night.
Overall, a good hotel, really spoiled by its location.
