I stayed one night at the Park House Hotel while on business in Brooklyn. I chose this hotel because the price was right--under $150. The lobby and check-in were fine, but when I stepped off the elevator to go to my room, I gasped. The hallway was very dilapidated with peeling paint and wallpaper and dim bulbs without any shades. An ironing board in the corner had a ripped cover on it. The carpeting was stained and buckling. I was tempted to leave right then, but it was very late, and I didn't know where else to go. Luckily, the room was an improvement over the hallway. It was very large and clearn with 2 double beds and an efficiency kitchen. Amenities which are standard in most hotels (such as hair dryer and shampoo) were non-existent. The bath towels were very thin, and one didn't even wrap around me all the way even though I'm pretty petite. I left very early the next day, so I was not able to partake of the free breakfast. I doubt very much I would ever stay here again.

“Great base from which to explore Brooklyn and NYC”

My husband and I stayed at this hotel during our long awaited trip to Brooklyn to explore both of our roots. We had been driving all day (we live in Canada, but are originally from NY) and phoned to say we would be arriving late, around 10pm and to arrange for parking in their lot across the street. "No problem!" We were deeply disappointed when we arrived to find out there was NO parking in their lot... we could park on the street, but would have to move our car by 8am. We were pissed! BUT...we found parking on the street right outside the hotel without any meters and we could leave the car there for many days without having to move it! That first experience with the staff was so unlike the rest of our stay...the staff were VERY nice, accomodating, the room was VERY comfortable (a bit on the small size )...I believe we had one of the only rooms with a queen bed (most have two twin beds-that's what we were told). The refrigerator in the room was great, the balcony overlooking 14th St. with a view of the Verranzano Bridge was wonderful to watch the people go about their daily activites..great place to have a glass of wine at night. The subway is only 2 blocks away to go other parts of Brooklyn, to NYC or the Bronx (Yankee game). VERY convenient.
Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to stay again or recommend this place, especially for the price!

“A kosher bargain in Brooklyn”

Park House Hotel

We have stayed at this hotel several times. For the price, it is a bargain -- a perfectly fine breakfast is included -- and the rooms include (kosher) kitchens for those who wish to heat or refrigerate food - as I recall, no dishes or silverware is available.

Our room has always had two kingsize beds, full bathroom, sofa, small table & chairs - beds are very comfortable; other furniture is vinyl and old, but perfectly serviceable -- compared to Manhattan hotel rooms, the size of these rooms is positively palatial! Some rooms were being renovated last time we were there, and clearly, the hotel does need upgrading, with old wallpaper and worn carpeting throughout (at least the last time we were there). The people at the front desk have been most helpful with subway directions and any other questions we've had, contrary to the experience of another TripAdvisor reviewer. We have always been able to park within a couple of blocks of the hotel, and have felt our car was totally safe in that Orthodox Jewish neighborhood -- our car has never been disturbed, so we've been correct.

“weekend in brooklyn”

We attended the Park House Hotel for a weekend Saturday Lunch Bar Mitzvah for my nephew. We arrived on Thursday evening and Joe at the Front desk greeted us warmly eventhough my seven kids were tired and cranky. The room was brand new, large and inviting. There were enough beds and cribs set out to fit us all. Some rooms were still under construction, but we were glad that we got a new room.

The weekend was very relaxing as the children had the space to run around.

“Nightmare of a place”

Park House Hotel

We'd really hoped to find a gem in Brooklyn but were sorely mistaken. The Park House's website mentions the following, which are all entirely untrue:
- elegant hotel
- luxurious
- staff is courteous and attentive, superb service
- warm welcome

The staff was curt and couldn't be bothered from the second we showed up.
The walk from the elevator to our "luxury suite" was like walking through a horror movie... dilapidated and rickety with florescent lights and peeling paint. Our room was a little better, evident that they'd recently renovated it. Heat didn't work, no lightbulbs in the bedroom lamps. Strong roach spray fumes. A smoke detector somewhere out in the hall chirped all night in need of batteries.

At 7 AM, construction started up again in the room NEXT to us. Saws, hammer, metal clanging, music. Unbelievable. We barely slept, and fitfully until the front desk called to see if we'd be staying another day. I thought we'd stayed past check out and asked for more time but they impatiently told me our suite had been let for the next night so we needed to get out. It was Monday morning. I asked what time it was and she said it was 9 AM. We were rudely granted more time after I cited the fact that we'd not been told they were under construction when we booked the room and had hardly slept.

The noise continued until we checked out at 11.
The girl at the front desk was short with me about the check-out process and when I spoke to the manager, suggesting that even the MENTION of the POSSIBILITY there might be a bit of noise nearby would have been helpful to us, he got very annoyed and defensive saying that he never knows when they're going to start or on what room.

I was calm about it and he was still a turd about the whole thing.
Oh, and parking was ridiculously bad in that neighborhood. My boyfriend parked nearly ten blocks away.

Will.Never.Go.Back.
