Akwaaba Mansion Bed & Breakfast

Excellent B&B located in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn. We found it to be much better value for money than those on offer in Manhattan. The Staff are very friendly and give a warm welcome. Breakfast varies day by day and is excellent with very fresh produce (French toast was excellent). We stayed in the Ashante room and were very pleased with its generous proportions, well equipped bathroom and light. We also liked the area and found it safe and full of character.
We would definitely return!

“Brooklyn Hospitality reaches new Heights!”

Akwaaba Mansion Bed & Breakfast

May 22, 2008

Staying at Akwaaba Inn is a unique and uplifting experience. From the moment of arrival we felt welcomed like old friends..
Courtesy and care abound [thank you Ingrid and Gregory]

This 19th century Brooklyn mansion is furnished with period pieces and considerable flair. Each room [we peeked at the others] is individual and elegant. We, as married-for-42-years, were enchanted by Jumping the Broom, which is the Bridal Suite, complete with enormous jacuzzi and lace draped four-poster.
Situated in Bed-Stuy, the most 'happening' area of Brooklyn, Akwaaba Mansion is convenient for the Subway [A Line] and buses to Downtown Brooklyn. The locality has shops, resaurants and delis. And it is not expensive. What a find; can't wait to go back.

“Thank you to all at the brilliant Akwaaba Mansion”

We had a fabulous time staying at the Akwaaba Mansion, Brooklyn. It was everything that we wanted it to be and more. The rooms were clean and spacious, whilst also feeling cosy and comfortable and the themes of each made them feel unique and special. The breakfasts were fantastic and filling - and each one was different - which for a ten day stay was really impressive - and they were so tasty and satisfying that we did not need to eat until dinner time. Above all though, what really made our time at the hotel so great were the amazing Akwaaba staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them - from giving us the top tips on the best restaurants and advice on things to see and do, to making enquiries about taxis, opening times and even gifts that we wanted to bring home with us, the staff were truly brilliant - their helpfulness, hospitality and friendly welcome was second to none and we had a really wonderful holiday. Thank you Akwaaba - we shall be back!

“Why Did I Get Married Couples Retreat”

Akwaaba Mansion Bed & Breakfast

5 of 5 stars
Cherry Hill, Nj
Mar 26, 2008

"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." -Marcel Proust.

After seeing Tyler Perry's movie "Why Did I Get Married?", my girlfriends and I decided to take our husbands on a little overnighter to NYC. We couldn't have chosen a better spot than the Akwaaba to bring enjoyment, fun, and laughter to the middle of our week, all while reminding ourselves of why we love each other through thick and thin.

The Brooklyn 1860's mansion was filled with exquisite historical eye candy. We felt welcomed from the moment we were greeted with yummy treats, to the good times enjoyed by a warm fire, to the end of our evening where a path of rose petals met us from our bedroom to our drawn bubble bath. The hospitality continued in the morning with a delightful breakfast that warmed our souls! I always set a high value on spontaneous kindness and certainly found it there.

The owner, Monique, signed a copy of her book for my husband and I and in it wrote "...don't put your dreams on layaway" That's a motto to live by!

“Exquisite!”

Akwaaba Mansion Bed & Breakfast

5 of 5 stars
New York
Dec 27, 2007

I decided to surprise my husband with a mini getaway in the middle of December simply to say "I Love You." One special evening at the Akwaaba Mansion was the remedy, as our evening was filled with tons of bliss. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the beautifully spirited Innkeeper Ms. Dolores. We were taken on a tour of the exquisite mansion, and then led to our rooms where we were able to catch up on some much needed rest. Due to the fact that our work schedules our very hectic, this provided the perfect outlet for some rest and relaxation. After settling in, we were then invited to "Tea Time" at the Akwaaba. Ms. Dolores provided a spread that left me breathless. It was simple yet satisfying! After that delighful treat, my husband and I ventured off into the streets of Brooklyn to grab a bite to eat. We found a quaint little eatery 2 blocks away from the mansion, Solomon's Porch was our choice of the evening. There are so many special treasures in Brooklyn, and the Akwaaba Mansion is at the top of my list! We were treated royally, with the utmost care and respect. We will definitely take another trip to the Akwaaba Mansion. I also encourage anyone and everyone to take a trip to the Akwaaba Mansion, whether it is for a night or the entire weekend, you will not regret it. Enjoy!
