“Comfortable, value for money”

Quality Inn near Central Park

Well-located, comfortable, quiet hotel just off the I-95. Friendly helpful front desk staff. I was able to get a lower rate by taking out my laptop in the lobby and booking a room via AAA, then checking in. The second level room was clean, with adequate space for hanging clothes. The beds were very comfortable. Microwave and mini-fridge. The lobby breakfast area was clean with a wide variety of hot / cold food and drink. The hotel is easy driving distance from central Fredericksburg, and was crowded with older snow birds on their way north. We would stay there again.

“comfortable and affordable”

Stayed here for 2 nights to attend a wedding. The room was not special, but adequate. We had a room with one king bed and a sofa so that gave us a bit of room to stretch out. It was clean and had the usual amenities like coffeemaker, shampoo, hand lotion, etc. The breakfast was nice--had scrambled eggs one day and pancakes one day. Good selection of pastries, bagels, and cereal. Coffee a bit weak, but I am a coffee snob and like it really strong so probably ok for most people. There were restaurants nearby, but we were tied up with wedding activities and did not go to any of them. Staff was pleasant and efficient. Price paid was good. I feel like it was a good value.

“Decent rooms, a few glitches, but great service”

We stayed here for three nights. It is an older hotel, but the rooms have been recently renovated, so they are clean and in good shape. Be aware, it is an outside-hallway hotel. It is near by an endless blight of strip malls, which is handy if you need to shop. The scenic, historic parts of town are further east.

Rooms were simple but more than acceptable for this price point. Everything was clean. Wireless internet is free. There is a decent pool, outside. The free breakfast in the morning was actually quite good.

We had two fairly large problems, though. We failed to receive our wake-up call one morning, which could have been disasterous. Then, on our last night, on a day when it was 96 degrees, our A/C shut off from about 1am to 7am, for no apparent reason. We told the manager about both of these things, at different times. They were very understanding, and we ended up only paying for about half our stay. Service was generally very good, and their response to those incidents was prompt and courteous.

FYI, we knew others staying there the same nights, and their A/C worked fine, so don't think this was a planned thing. Just a mechanical issue. Given the lack of other nice hotels in the area, I'd say this is a good choice for the money.

“Bed from hell - endless night”

Quality Inn near Central Park

First, let me say the Hampton Inn is probably fine if you go for a larger bed/room size. However, we stayed in a double room, in the most uncomfortable bed I have experienced during the past month of travelling in the USA (having stayed in about 15 similar such inn/motels recently). Although neither my husband nor myself are large, the mattress seemed to sag badly in the middle, so that it was like rolling into a ravine! Furthermore the sheets seemed too small for the size of the bed, so we were constantly fighting for them. Consequently, neither of us got much sleep and spent the next day feeling tired, which rather spoilt the brief time we had to visit nearby Washington.

These comments may seem amusing or trivial, but the prime aim of any accommodation must be to afford the traveller a comfortable night's sleep and as it failed in this respect, unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay at the Hampton Inn, despite the delicious breakfast and other amenities.

Recently I took a bus tour trip to Washington, DC. This hotel located a hop, skip & a jump from D.C. was one of the more exciting stops on our trip. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by hotel management. This hotel is right in the middle of everything! Shopping, many restaurants, local entertainment you name it, were all within walking distance from my room! The next morning, well rested from our delightful stay, we loaded onto the bus for a short, easy, & relaxing conveient trip up highway 95 to our destination.
