The staff was great.  They went beyond what I have experienced elsewhere.  All seemed eager to help you.  The Sunday buffet was excellent.  The small lunch/dinner room was warm and comfortable.  The food was good and the bartender/waiter was friendly and very accomodating.  I requested a 2nd floor room.  I loved the corner room viewing the intersection of Beacon and St Paul.  It was pouring rain and I enjoyed having the curtain open and watching the activity below.  Although next time I'll ask for the 3rd floor room directly above.  There was some minor street noise during the middle of the night that I could have done without.  The room might have been outdated, compared to some, but very clean and comfortable.  I loved the location.  I would definetely stay here again.

I've stayed at this hotel twice and probably won't ever stay here again. Many of the rooms are small and have double (not queen) beds. Rooms on the first and second floors look out on an indoor atrium, so the windows in these room admit nothing but noise and smoke from burnt toast, wafting up from the restaurant and other areas in the open atrium. The wireless internet access was so slow as to be completely unusable, so don't count on getting any work done while you're here. Getting to your room will mean a confusing (and often frustrating) walk through a maze of corridors, stairways, balconies, and fire doors. Parking is an additional charge, and the doorway to the parking garage is at the opposite end of the hotel from the lobby, so definitely don't park first -- check in at the front desk so that you don't have to lug your luggage all the way through the hotel. Unlike other Holiday Inn properties, this hotel apparently offers no Priority Club benefits to guests except a free morning newspaper, even to those at the highest points levels.

The location is great, with lots of restaurants and shopping within just a few blocks, and the Green Line C line of the T stops right outside the hotel. There are also plenty of charming bed and breakfast inns in the area which offer much better value and charm than this hotel, so you'll do well to investigate those.

If, on the other hand, you want to stay in a cheaply-furnished room (my had nail holes in the wall where the old art used to hang) with small beds (people of below-average height and weight might fit two to a bed without a problem) and no chance of natural light once you enter, then this hotel just might be for you.

The hotel was clean, comfortable and convenient. In just a few minutes walk down Beacon Street you can reach stores, restaurants and a post office, but for the traveler looking to hit downtown Boston, the green line T stops right outside the hotel at the St. Paul stop. My room was large and comfortable and had a nice view of the street below. The service was prompt and friendly. The hotel bar was also a nice place to relax with a congenial bartender. The food at the hotel restaurant was good but did take quite a bit of time to prepare. I was visiting on a business trip but would certainly consider staying at the Holiday Inn on subsequent trips to Boston.

It started out OK.. The location is good. Looked reasonably well kept. You'll either like or hate indoor atrium. Wireless internet work flawlessly, at least in my room.

However... What's with running out of hot water in the morning for both days I was staying? IT WASN'T EVEN THAT COLD OUTSIDE!!
The receptionists didn't look appear to be much embarassed either.

Natually, cannot recommend if you are with your family. It looks like the hotel rate in the boston area went completely crazy in the last few years, even not in the baseball season.
