I have seen many reviews of this hotel that have rated it pretty highly. I may have done so myself had I not stayed here for a business meeting, as the guest rooms were nice and clean and the front desk staff were very helpful and accomodating. Even the restaurant was pleasant. However, the business end of my stay was awful - so awful, it overshadowed everything else - and the manager's behavior was completely unacceptable.
I booked a conference room ten days in advance for an important business meeting, for which the attendees were only availble for an hour. Fifteen minutes into the presentation, a very loud drilling sound began emanating from above the room. I immediately left my presentation to speak to the manager, who told me there was nothing he could do about it, that workers were at the hotel and working on the roof. He offered to switch my meeting room. After explaining to him that our presentation was well underway, and that moving would require disassembling the projector, laptop, moving the projection screen and severing our teleconference line, and that the attendees were only avaialble for an hour, I was told by the manager that I was being - and I quote - "unreasonable."
After the manager agreed to stop the work for "as long as possible," a half hour later, the noise came back even louder. I again spoke to the manager, who refused to stop the work and again offered to move my meeting room and comp the expenses.
This all could have been avoided. The right move would have been to tell me, in advance, that work was being done on the hotel that day, not book me in that room, or, in the very least, let me know before my meeting began that work was being done on the roof and that as a result my meeting room would have to be moved. Instead, the distraction of the noise and my repeated absences from the room to speak with the manager turned the well-planned meeting into a fiasco. Half of the information that was being presented was not heard by the attendees, and the person on the teleconference experienced drop-outs due to the background noise.
I hate writing negative reviews, but this one is well warranted. Nobody should have to go through the stress that I experienced. Take your meeting business elsewhere. Even if I caught this hotel on the wrong day, beleive me, it is not worth the gamble.
