“Marriott at Camden, good location but not the best experience”

Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards

2 of 5 stars
Minnesota
Jul 9, 2008

I recently stayed at the Marriott at Camden Yards and came away disappointed with the experience. The good news is the location was great for getting to the ballpark and the harbor. The bad news is that inspite of extensive remodeling this hotel has problems. Our room was nicely remodeled and looked great, but the air conditioning unit didn't work. When I called to complain they sent up 2 maintenance guys who quickly determined they had found the problem and spent 45 minutes fixing it. We left to go to the ballgame and when we came back it was just as hot. When I called down to the front desk to complain they only offered to send maintenance up again. I said how about you find me another room to move to instead. They did agree to move us to a new room and at 10:30 pm we moved all our stuff. The staff didn't offer any apologies or reduction in our room rate. I was also disappointed that the beds were doubles and not queens.

The marriot did not dissapoint. Parking and unloading were simple...Check in went smoothly and they were kind about early check-in without notice. A nice young woman from the netherlands checked us in and was very accomodating. As in most marriots the bed was wonderful....The location was great ! Camden Yards is across the street and you are just 5 minutes walking from the inner harbor. No complaints at all...

“Great Inner Harbor Location”

Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards

4 of 5 stars
The Woodlands, Texas

Above average digs and perfect location for the convention center. Big plus was the ION water filter system at the health club for drinking water, and the adequate pool in the basement where I watched the Celtics and Pistons after a swim while peddling a stationery bike in a much-too-tight Speedo (as Sam Kinison used to say, thanks for the visual)! Bedding and LCD TV added to the comfortable surroundings. Who cares if one gets a beautiful view of the adjoining parking structure? Any woman, that's who! For guys, forget about it! Lobby was spacious as well as the bar restaurant combo. One could not ask for a better abode for only $70 plus taxes at a three star hotel in the Inner Harbor.

“Dismal lobby but nice rooms”

Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards

The lobby has the feeling of a sports bar, which may not be too surprising given the hotel's location, but things improve greatly once you get to your room. I think Marriott has the best quality rooms among its competitors (Hyatt, Hilton): very comfortable beds, nice, flat-screen TVs, real cream for your coffee. They also outshine the others for business people. The desks are well laid out for working and they have very comfortable chairs. Would recommend.

“Convenient Location”

Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards

3 of 5 stars

Close to Camden Yards. Easy walk to Inner Harbor. The room was large, the bed comfortable, nice climate control. Our room had a view of the "Bromo Setlzer" tower; a view now blocked from Camden Yards by the new Hilton being built .(boo!) We got a good room rate, so I was happy with the experience. We were able to leave the car in the parking garage after check out. I did not notice much city noise, and our room also looked out over a fire station. The only negative was TV noise from the adjacent room. This hotel is close to Old Otterbein Church--Sunday service is at 11:00 and well worth a visit. I have walked past that church for 14 years going and coming to Orioles games and never took the time to attend. The building is beautiful and the congregation very welcoming. Their sign says "come as you are". They really mean it. As for the hotel, I would stay there again.
