“Great location, even better price!”

Brookshire Suites

4 of 5 stars
boston, ma
Jun 11, 2008

We stayed from 5/30-6/1 for a baseball getaway weekend with several other couples. We were the only couple staying here, the rest stayed at other inner harbor area hotels. Of 6 couples we had the lowest rate for the weekend.

I booked through a website I was unfamiliar with, but called the hotel directly afterwards to verify my rate & reservation which put my mind at ease. Check in was easy. We arrived early - around 1230pm (checkin is 4pm) but they had our room ready. Front desk staff was very friendly as was the bell boy. Our room was right outside the elevators - however I never heard any elevator or hallway noise - very convenient. Our room was on the 4th floor and faced the direction of the harbor. The hotel is located 1 block from it - very convenient for us. Included was a daily paper & hot breakfast on the top floor. The breakfast consisted of breads & pastries, coffee & juices, eggs, sausage, pancakes, and more I can't remember.

Our room was clean and typical size. Desk, chair, TV stand, end tables. There was a bar sink & locked mini bar, bottled water on the counter which also was included. The shower pressure was really good. Ample closet space. Our room was made up for us sometime while we were gone. The only thing to note is that you could hear street noise. This didn't bother us but if you're a light sleeper you want to know this.

Checkout - again, super easy. My expectations were exceeded.
For the right price I would definitely stay here again. Compared to the other area hotel rates our weekend, this was a gem of a bargain!

“Comfortable, Convenient, Affordable”

Brookshire Suites

3 of 5 stars
Arlington, Virginia
Jun 3, 2008

We spent 1 night at the Brookshire, and were overall impressed by the hotel. The rooms were spacious, but not too large and the lobby was clean and inviting. The breakfast buffet was rather impressive, given the reasonable rate we paid, and the fact that it was included with the rate! If I had to pick one negative about the hotel, it could use a facelift. The hallway carpets were stained and old, and the walls had scuffs and marks on them. In the rooms, however, everything was in working order. Our room was directly over the street, and we were able to open the windows to take in some of the sounds of the city. It wasn't too loud, and if it was, that sure isn't the hotel's fault. The parking deck is directly across the street, and no, I never felt unsafe, even when walking to/from the Inner Harbor.

Overall, the Brookshire is a comfortable, convenient, and affordable hotel.

“Creepy”

Wow! What a creepy hotel this was!

Safty: First you walk up and the front window has been shattered, which was hopefully caused by a rock and not a bullet, but either way made me question the safety of the place.

Food: There is no restaraunt and no vending machines so if you want to eat you either have to walk around the block to Seven-11 or McDonalds or eat a $3 can of Pringles out of the mini bar (the mini snack can, not the normal one).

Room: The room was too small to turn around in, I couldn't even open the drawers of the dresser to put my clothes away (but on second thought, I guess that's a good thing since it didn't seem like the cleanest piece of furniture in the room) The hotel itself was pretty quiet, but the ceiling in my room creaked whenever someone in the room above me would walk around ... not cool.

Hotel: The elevators are slow and loud and don't seem very safe. Internet access, they charge you for it ... enough said. Lastly, what's with the magic theme? I don't get it and it contributes extra creepiness to the atmosphere.

In summary , this place was so bad that I wanted to check out after the first night, but they told me that I would be charged for checking out before my scheduled departure date. Nice. Thanks Brookshire ... Smell ya later!

Tips: For a few extra bucks, I recommend the Springhill or the Residence Inn (both Marriott) or for about the same price the Tremont Plaza.

The Brookshire Suites absolutely exceeded my expectations for a last minute booking. Check in was easy although our room was not ready till mid afternoon. No problem there, they set us up with our package immediately and we were able to go directly to the Baltimore Aquarium (be sure to see the dolphin show and the 4D show, truly worth the extra 3-4$per person extra per show).Upon leaving the hotel we were only one block from the harbor and two blocks over from the Aquarium. Location was perfect for fun and shopping. Breakfast was included with our package and it wasn't just coffee and fruit...It WAS eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, fresh fruit and french toast...a great way to start the day. Internet access in room or in the Cloud Club (top floor). They also have a small gym where my daughter was able to run her 5 miles without getting lost in the city.Monday evening we found ourselves in the Cloud Club for a free (yes free) cocktail party with local wines and beer as well as cheese, crackers and fresh fruit...and a nice way to end the day. The room was exactly what they said it was...spacious and clean and I would definitely go back...For 2 night and 3 adults, breakfast, cocktail party, and aquarium passes it came to $600 (including taxes and and all the other charges the government adds to your vacaton). We had the Harbor Magic package and it was easy to book everything on line right at the hotel web site...Don't forget to get your free Oceanoply game before you check out! Parking is expensive but not a bad as NYC. Have a great time!

“Not happy”

Brookshire Suites

Mar 30, 2008

It started with the walk across the street from the parking ramp- The crosswalk means nothing to the drivers and there is no skyway - so put on your helmets, elbow pads, and running shoes! There is the hidden charge called a "destination fee" which should just be included in the price to begin with. I went through Priceline thinking everything was paid for. Just add the $10 to the room!!! People will be a lot happier just thinking the paper, breakfast, and water is free.
The lobby was nice, and gives the illusion of a 3star hotel, but the halls had such a stink I had to hold my breath getting off the elevator. (I'm not exaggerating) It smelled like someone peed in a flower garden after eating asparagus. There were also stains in the carpet all over the halls. (coincidence?) The room was half new and half falling apart. I did like that it had two rooms, with the bedroom having a door. The front desk called us after being in our room an hour asking how things were. We thought it was a bit intrusive, making us feel uncomfortable and put on the spot. Maybe if it seemed more genuine instead of obviously being read from a script it wouldn't have been so.....well,...creepy.
When I called down later to order room service I was put on hold for several minutes and then told to call the restaurant directly.
Then the restaurant took their turn in making us feel unwanted.

Walking around the block in the morning was not pleasant.
Oh, and $42 to release our car from the parking ramp!! That is not a typo. $42. Leave the ramp before dawn and you might save half.
The other 6 hotels we stayed at on our trip were superb, and far less costly.
Personally, the Marriott chain has won my loyalty.
