Made a surprise trip to Baltimore for a night, and chose the Residence Inn. We've stayed at the Hyatt before and wanted to stay there again, but since we made the reservations about a week before check in this was much cheaper.
The valet guys were extremely nice/helpful. We don't like using valet (Hyatt has a self parking option), but he explained that while it would be cheaper to park somewhere ourselves for the night, we would have to pay more for the next day and we had the valet until 5. We had business in the morning and figured this would be the best route. Another guy also told us how to get to where we needed to go the next morning.
Check in was fast and easy. Once again very nice front desk. The employees at the desk were very nice everytime we came in/out. Also notified us of the free breakfast, but didn't have time to even look and see what they offered, but it's a nice extra.
The rooms were great. Plenty of room and had a couch (sofabed) and chair. We were only there for a night, but the refridgerator and microwave would come in handy if you were going to be there a few days. While I like the comfort of the rooms at the Hyatt better, the amentities inside the rooms were better here- as mentioned fridge/microwave, as well as stove top and stocked drawers. Also had a full size coffee pot which was great.
Location was great. Only a few blocks away from the inner harbor, and pretty close to Camden Yards. Once again, sorry to mention the Hyatt, but we like it's closer location to both better.
While we have our favorite hotel in Baltimore, this really made a good impression on us. This has become our second choice now when visiting Baltimore. I'd recommend it to anyone who's going to be in Baltimore for a few+ days so you can better use the amentities in the room. Not too often can you bring leftovers from dinner to a hotel room downtown and be able to store them and heat them up later.
