I recently stayed at the Hyatt Penn's Landing on business for one night. I was a little reluctant to book here based on some reviews and I generally have a rule that I wont stay anywhere that didnt score a 4.0 overall unless I know differently about the hotel.

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. I found the rooms to be wonderful and large with a great bathroom including a window (I booked a waterview king, dont know if that makes a difference). The room had a great view out of all the windows of the river and ships and it was a corner room with three windows in the bedroom and 1 in the bathroom which is actually really nice to have some sun in the bath in the morning. The room was very well maintained and comfortable. The A/C worked outstanding and kept the room very cold which I like for sleeping. The bed was very comfortable and everything was up to date and working. The wireless internet was 54 mbs and had a great a great signal, no problems at all with that. Sometimes with wireless only hotels you only get 11 mbs, a slow connection but this one was up to date for sure.

I ate in the restaurant and other then being a little pricey the food was very good. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I would have no problem staying here again.

“Not a bad location”

Restaurants and shops are a few minutes walk from the hotel. South St. is just a few minutes away and a popular place to go and find a meal (for a good Philly cheese steak, Jim's Steak House is right on South St. and 4th). The hotel is located at Penn's Landing, and right outside the hotel you can take the River Ferry to Camden, NJ and go to the aquarium and visit the battle ship New Jersey. Also near the hotel is the seaport museum (it's a small museum, so 45min-1 hour should be more than enough time to see everything. The highlight of this museum is going on the WWII sub. A few blocks away you'll find the Liberty Bell and Independence hall. Visit the Independence Visitors Center just a few blocks from the hotel for info on everything Philly. I bought the City Pass for around forty dollars-this pass has tickets for the aquarium, seaport museum, museum of art, etc. Also included is one 24 hour pass on the trolley's and double-decker buses, which you can jump on and off at any time. The city pass is good for nine days. All trolley to historic sites, as well as the duck tours, are located by the Independence visitors center.

Staff was very pleasant/polite. Request a room facing away from the street traffic. I had a room overlooking the street traffic and requested it be changed because of the loud, humming noise of the traffic below. Don't do room service-a burger w/ fries and two beers cost me $41.00 dollars. The price of breakfast is high. There is also a little place where you can get a cup of coffee to go and a muffin if desperate, but it will coast you $7 dollars. I purchased my stay through Hotwire at $122 a night, far cheaper than any B & B I could get. I don't think this hotel is worth the $200 + a night they charge through their reservation line/website. The hotel room I stayed in showed a bit of wear, but the room was pretty spacious. I don't think I'd call this hotel four star, but it's not bad nor is the location. Internet service is and extra $10 dollars.

“Great Location!”

I stayed here Memorial weekend with my husband and 2 kids (ages 11 and 7). We wanted to sightsee, and this hotel was within walking distance to all of the colonial landmarks. Our room faced the Benjamin Franklin Bridge with gorgeous views of the Delaware River. We even saw a bolt of lightning knock out the power on the bridge briefly during a fantastic thunderstorm. My kids were impressed!

The room was clean, offered a robe and slippers, and it was quiet, despite the fact there was the Jam on the River festival a block away, and weddings and proms going on downstairs. The restaurant was never crowded and the food was delicious. The concierge was helpful with sightseeing tips and the hotel staff was quite friendly.

We really enjoyed this hotel and wished we could have stayed longer!

Standard hotel room. Nothing special. Wallpaper very marked up in both room and hallway. Bedding comfortable. Mini-fridge in room. Glad I got this room for $120.00 through hotwire instead of 279.00 through website. $25 + tax valet park.

Service was extremely good from the bellman, frontdesk and concierge. They seemed to really want to help you. I was asked everytime if I needed any assistance with directions.

The hotel was in walking distance of lots of great restaurants (around 2nd and Walnut) and the historic district. Penn's landing had free family movie night on Thursdays.

Stayed August 7/8th 2007, (stayed before). Staff is completely aggravated by every visitor and you can tell!! Same way my last visit. Everything is priced outrageously like a Four Seasons, but itd barely pass as a Super 8. The deck surrounding the indoor pool on the 4th floor is very cool. Especially if you want to sunbathe. The view of George Washingtons Delaware River is awesome. Your steps from the Ferry ride to Tweeter center. But there is such disdain for the visitor that it makes you depressed to be there. COMPLAIN about everything!!!! Dont settle for those stained floors, or the completely worthless Airconditioning, ( was sweating all night both nights, even with a changed room for better ac) If you like a cool room DO NOT book here. Definitely request RIVERVIEW. Just not worth it over 130.00 per night. Tell them you want 1 free breakfast when checking in just for the hell of it. Competent possibly, not friendly or helpful. Wont stay again unless I get 99.00 Hotwire like last time.
