My boyfriend took me to Philly for my birthday last year. We were very happy with our stay at the Homewood Suite!! We drove from the DC area and had a little trouble finding the hotel at first. I called and we quickly found it after that. Check in was easy. I believe we were on Floor 2 or 3. We were suprised how high the celings were. We had a standard room, king bed, small living area, and a kitchenette. I must say, the bed was heaven!!! Once you layed down, you could fall right to sleep. I fell asleep at 8 pm one night because I was so comfortable. The breakfast every morning was wonderful! Better that most other hotels free breakfast. One morning it got a bit crowded downstairs, so we just piled our plates with food, and took it back to our room. One thing to keep in mind, this hotel is not in the downtown part of the city. The hotel is situated right next to a college, so we felt pretty safe walking to and from the hotel to our car. The city was quite spotty with its shady neighborhoods though. Because we are unfamiliar with the city, we are happy we didn't choose a hotel downtown. Since we drove, we had a car to get around and didn't have too much of a problem with parking. You MUST go to Reading Terminal Market. We ate lunch there every day. There were so many choices!! Pat's Famous Cheesestakes is located in the market. We parked in a garaged the first day and walked around a city. I suggest finding an actual garage. I'm not quite sure what we parked in, but we decided not to go back there again. Anywho, we enjoyed walking aroud the city, although we were unsure about some areas. We did visit the museaum with the King Tut exhibit. SUCH A WASTE OF TIME!! We though we would see the actual scarcofagus. All you see is an image. Not worth it. We did enjoy drinking at a bar that is located across the street from Reding Terminal Market though. We met a very friendly guy who had recently gotten off work and dropped by for a drink. He attempted to tell us some things to do while visiting Philly. We also visited the Zoo. We had a wonderful time here. Very nice zoo, you definitely get what you pay for. Being from DC where the zoo is free, I was pleasently surprised how much nicer Philadelphia's Zoo exhibits where. We also visited the Art Musueam. It is a beautiful building, although they were doing work on the outside. We went on a Sunday when admission is free, so I suggest going then. It was a beautiful museaum. On Sat. evening we drove out to the King of Prussia mall. Anyone who loves shopping should visit it, however it has stores you will find in any decent mall. We made a night of it and did some shopping, had dinner, and went to a movie. In all, we both had a great time in Philly and cannot wait to go back.
