I'd like to give my support to the Conwell Inn! This hotel turned out to be quite a little gem and a very good value. The hotel has a small, quaint feel to it (similar to a European hotel). It was nice to stay somewhere that felt more like a home than a chain.
The room we got was somewhat larger than most hotel rooms today, with some nice bay windows and a table at the end of the room.
The room & bathroom were clean. The front desk was very friendly.
Extras included wine and cheese/crackers in the lobby on Sunday evening. There were cookies on Monday evening. Both mornings we enjoyed a continental breakfast there.
Subway (SEPTA) is 1 block away.
This hotel is right inside Temple University. It is tricky to get to... you NEED to use a service entry road to get to the hotel's parking and entrance. Just call ahead to ask.
The only negative thing is that there are a lot of folks looking for handouts nearby, despite the presence of campus police.
If I went back to Philadelphia, I'd return to Conwell.
