“Comfortable, Convenient In-Airport Hotel”

Philadelphia Airport Marriott

4 of 5 stars
Huntington Beach, CA

December 10-11, 2006 - Because of an early morning flight I spent the night before at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott Hotel. Check-in was fast, taking about one minute. I received my room preference which was for a king non-smoking on a high floor.

My room, #1511, had a super comfortable Marriott Revive bed. Not only are these beds comfortable, but the pillows and bedding making them very luxurious! The room was perfectly clean and everything was in working order. Even though my room faced the airport, there was virtually no noise from planes landing or taking off.

The room had a two level work desk and a good and comfortable office-style chair. Wired high speed internet service was by I-Bahn with a daily charge of $9.95. The service worked perfectly and connected to our corporate VPN without any problems. There was room on the desk for the in-room coffee maker. Opposite the desk was a comfortable arm chair and ottoman.

I believe the hotel is only about 10 years old. Because of that the room décor has not been updated. The room décor was tasteful, but did not have the contemporary look of newly renovated Marriott rooms. Because the hotel is fairly new, it has the bathroom was larger than those of older Marriott hotels. Lighting was good and the combination tub and shower had a good shower head with plenty of water pressure.

Roaming around the hotel Sunday night I found the pool and exercise room on the 2nd floor. The swimming pool looks like it is made for swimming laps. It is very long and narrow. Adjacent to the pool is a whirlpool spa. There were a lot of chairs and lounges each with a clean white pool towel.

The exercise room is large and looks well-equipped. The equipment looked very new. Each of the treadmills had an LCD TV attached to help pass the time. There were three large LCD monitors on the opposite wall for the stationary bikes and other equipment. There was plenty of clean towels and ice water in the gym.

The hotel is connected to Terminal B of the airport via an enclosed bridge on level two. The hotel also offers complimentary van shuttle service from the hotel entrance to each of the four terminals. If you had a lot of luggage taking the hotel’s van would probably be easier than walking.

Sunday evening the concierge lounge had cookies for desert. Monday morning the hot items were scrambled eggs and oatmeal. Lox and ham were also set out as well as a variety of fresh fruit and breakfast breads and hard-boiled eggs.

I had an 8:00 AM flight on American from Terminal A. I left the hotel at 6:40 walked to Terminal A and got through security by 7:10 Walking to terminal A from the hotel required me to go outside of Terminal B and walk about 100 yards before entering Terminal A. The weather was not bad so this was not a problem. If it had been raining or snowing the hotel shuttle would have been a better choice.

I was only at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott hotel for about 12 hours, but I found it very comfortable and convenient. It completely met my needs and expectations and I can give it a high recommendation

“A Disaster”

Philadelphia Airport Marriott

1 of 5 stars
Maryland

I travel frequently and always try to book my overnights at a Marriott property. Until this stay at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott, I had never spent a disappointing night with this chain.
My room was lovely, but the bathroom had a myriad of problems: broken hairdryer, tub that would not drain, toilet that would not properly flush. It took 2 days, 4 requests and finally a face-to-face meeting with a hotel manager to get a new hairdryer and a properly working toilet. The tub never did drain properly. The food service is expensive and the quality is marginal. I ordered from room service twice and both times, despite specific instructions (requested in a kind and friendly manner), the orders were wrong (and I was overcharged). After paying $17/day to park, I was not given the appropriate receipts to drive my car out of the garage. I had to pay additional fees to the parking attendant and was told I would need to return to the Marriott to arrange a refund. I understand that customer expectations can, at times, be unrealistic and petty. In my case, what annoyed me more than the actual shortcomings of my room and the restaurant, was the complete lack of customer follow-up at the hotel. Words like "my pleasure" or "how can I serve you" mean nothing if there is no real service to back up the phrases. Marriott needs to take a closer look at this property...it is an unfortunate blemish.

“Very nice stay”

Philadelphia Airport Marriott

I stayed in hotel pre-cruise in September. The price was right (Priceline). Our room was very nice and clean. The hotel staff was pleasant. There was ample parking with easy access to the elevator from the garage. The garage itself was well lit and secure.

We were there during Ernesto so we couldn't easily leave and travel for dinner. We decided to use the hotel restaurant. Prices were ridiculous and the choice of items very limited. Food was mediocre. It would be nice if they would improve this.

The pool/spa area is real nice. They do charge for internet service in the room but you can use the complimentary internet access next to the front desk to print airline tickets, read e-email etc.

Overall I thought it was a nice hotel and would stay here again.

“good hotel, but”

We chose this hotel for one night before our flight early the next morning. We always stay in an airport hotel prior to flying. There were a few reasons we chose this particular hotel. First, we found a good rate because it was a Saturday night. It made the hotel comparative even with the $17. per day parking fee. (We were only gone 4 nights.) Second, we knew we would arrive late on Saturday and needed to be at the airport very early on Sunday. Because of its location, we thought we could simply walk to the airport and avoid the shuttle. This is the case if flying US Air; flying the other airlines still requires a shuttle. It was not a great inconvenience, but not what we expected. Returning was easy since the baggage claim does have arrows connecting with this hotel and parking garage and we did walk directly to our car, avoiding the shuttle hassle. The hotel lobby and rooms were probably the nicest accomodations we have ever had at the Philadelphia Airport. We often stay at the Renaissance, and this was a nice upgrade. We will probably stay here again, expecially if flying US Air, if we can find a good rate and are not gone longer than a few days. The parking fees definitely add to the total cost!
However, most of the airport hotels are really restricting free parking to Park n Fly packages that are more expensive than their base rate as well.

Booked with Priceline and got a bargain price. Meets all basic needs, clean room and comfortable bed. Nothing grand or awe-inspiring. Located at the airport although one still needs to ride the shuttle to get to it. Quiet room despite the location.
