December 10-11, 2006 - Because of an early morning flight I spent the night before at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott Hotel. Check-in was fast, taking about one minute. I received my room preference which was for a king non-smoking on a high floor.
My room, #1511, had a super comfortable Marriott Revive bed. Not only are these beds comfortable, but the pillows and bedding making them very luxurious! The room was perfectly clean and everything was in working order. Even though my room faced the airport, there was virtually no noise from planes landing or taking off.
The room had a two level work desk and a good and comfortable office-style chair. Wired high speed internet service was by I-Bahn with a daily charge of $9.95. The service worked perfectly and connected to our corporate VPN without any problems. There was room on the desk for the in-room coffee maker. Opposite the desk was a comfortable arm chair and ottoman.
I believe the hotel is only about 10 years old. Because of that the room décor has not been updated. The room décor was tasteful, but did not have the contemporary look of newly renovated Marriott rooms. Because the hotel is fairly new, it has the bathroom was larger than those of older Marriott hotels. Lighting was good and the combination tub and shower had a good shower head with plenty of water pressure.
Roaming around the hotel Sunday night I found the pool and exercise room on the 2nd floor. The swimming pool looks like it is made for swimming laps. It is very long and narrow. Adjacent to the pool is a whirlpool spa. There were a lot of chairs and lounges each with a clean white pool towel.
The exercise room is large and looks well-equipped. The equipment looked very new. Each of the treadmills had an LCD TV attached to help pass the time. There were three large LCD monitors on the opposite wall for the stationary bikes and other equipment. There was plenty of clean towels and ice water in the gym.
The hotel is connected to Terminal B of the airport via an enclosed bridge on level two. The hotel also offers complimentary van shuttle service from the hotel entrance to each of the four terminals. If you had a lot of luggage taking the hotel’s van would probably be easier than walking.
Sunday evening the concierge lounge had cookies for desert. Monday morning the hot items were scrambled eggs and oatmeal. Lox and ham were also set out as well as a variety of fresh fruit and breakfast breads and hard-boiled eggs.
I had an 8:00 AM flight on American from Terminal A. I left the hotel at 6:40 walked to Terminal A and got through security by 7:10 Walking to terminal A from the hotel required me to go outside of Terminal B and walk about 100 yards before entering Terminal A. The weather was not bad so this was not a problem. If it had been raining or snowing the hotel shuttle would have been a better choice.
I was only at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott hotel for about 12 hours, but I found it very comfortable and convenient. It completely met my needs and expectations and I can give it a high recommendation
