We just spent 2 nights at the hotel over Memorial Day All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We got a bed upgrade from double to Queen, which wasn't available when we booked.
Room was clean and fresh, not luxurious, but looked recently decorated. Shower was great, towels yummy, nice soap, etc. Had breakfast, reasonably priced and good. Even the gift shop lady was helpful.
Drawbacks: fire station on the corner, were awakened only once. The mattress dipped in the middle. Location outweighed any issues.
Walked to majority of historic sites, tour buses, walking tours (Benjamin Franklin's Footsteps with Tyson!), "An Evening With Ben Franklin" (so much fun). Warning: Graff House where Jefferson wrote the Declaration, by appt., only open 1 hour a day.
Some shopping, movie theaters, music and bar scene on Fri. and Sat. night closer to the river. Great meals at City Tavern (don't miss Martha Washington's choc mousse cake, and Ben Franklin's ale), Reading Terminal Market (Fri-Sat. bkfst lunch only--Dutch Eating Place Reuben Sand. and Apple Dumpling) and breakfast at Fork etc. (incredible fresh-baked bread).
Could take subway or bus or trolley if too far to walk. Pine St. charming and quiet walk. Art Museum was superb, the famous pieces and the unexpectedly beautiful.
Too much to do in just 3 days.
