“Oh the stench!”

First let me start out with the positives: great location, check-in was fine, room was OK. That being said: the hallway reeked of some combination of cigarette smoke, spilled liquid and sweat. Just awful. The whole place outside of the lobby has a very run-down feel to it. There was no insulation so it was very noisy in my room as I tried to sleep. Next time I'll go elsewhere.

“Wellington is a Gem!”

The Wellington is a true gem. Upon arrival we were treated quickly and efficiently and while I do not recall the gals name her tag indicated she was a "trainee". I'd never have known. The room was spacious and the decor match the pictures on their website perfectly.

The Wellington has the BEST LOCATION, we never had to take a taxi. We walked right down the street the hotel is located on to go to Time Square, Theater District, Central Park, Rockerfeller Center & the subway, (which we used quite a bit) was right out the door with others within a couple blocks.

Do not be detered by the other postings - some people are just never happy. We will stay at the Wellington again! The manager on duty even called to see how we were enjoying our stay.

During a dinner cruise, (Spirit of New York was a great evening), we shared a table on deck with another couple and what a surprise they were staying at The Wellington also and agreed the previous reviews were misleading.

You can not beat the location for the price and the staff & service made our vacation stressfree and enjoyable.

“Would stay again”

I was in New York for 10 days with my family and this hotel was perfect for us, yes it is a bit dated but the room we had was clean and our maid was great. We had absolutely no view from our window but the only time we used the room was to sleep so it didn't bother us!

The location of this hotel is fantastic less than 5 minutes walk to Times Square and a subway station less than 2 minutes away. New York is a fantastic city and I can't say enough good things about it, myself and my 18 year old sister felt completely safe going out alone at night, the shopping is amazing - be prepared to spend, spend spend and makesure you catch a Broadway show!

For people who slate this hotel why would you go to such a vibrant city and stay in your room?

The staff were friendly, no problems checking in or out. There are no safes in the room but you can rent a safety deposit box which are kept behind the reception which is a bit of a pain when you need to keep getting things out of it.

We didn't eat at thw hotel but there is a restaurant attached to it, there is a great little deli just round the corner which does lovely breakfast barms and a subway about 2 doors down from the hotel, the chinese right opposite is also lovely but the best by far is the Carnegie Deli which is just over the road.

Overall would recommend this hotel, we had a brilliant time there.

“Great hotel”

Wellington Hotel

After reading some of the reviews on this site, I was very worried about staying here. When me and hubby arrived at 11am our room was ready and we were able to book in. The reception staff that we were dealing with were very helpful and suggested some things that we could do while in New York. The hotel lobby was nice and clean possibly the only bad comment about the public area of this hotel is that the carpets were a little grubby. The room when we arrived was large and clean with plenty of storage space for all the goodies that you may buy!
There wasnt enough pillows in our room but a quick call to houskeeping sorted that out.
This hotel is in a lovely location walking distance to most things and I found our room was nice and quiet with no problems from the airconditioning.

“Location is the key!”

Wellington Hotel

Was a bit nervous after reading some reviews on this site, but was VERY surprised & pleased with this hotel! You MUST be open-minded with this little gem> it IS old, but in a classic sense. The rooms and baths are not luxurious and are certainly "COZY" to be kind,(the smallest bathroom ever!) But our room was impeccably clean, quiet & comfy. We had a king bed, with the discounted rate we got on Priceline, I was affraid we'd get a double bed so that was the best surprise. The service and staff were outstanding. THE most important thing I think people should know about this hotel: if you can put up with not having every luxury or loads of space stay HERE because this LOCATION rates 5 stars! Sub-way at the DOOR, easy walk to all theatres, Times Square, Central Prk, 5th Avenue shopping.
I would definitely stay here again!!!
