I had been told this hotel was tired, but the rooms were beautifully appointed, staff were pleasant and it was a bargain considering where it was situated. Just returned (4 April 05) and will certainly go back to the same hotel again.

ServiceExcellent service and good rooms (for New York). Situated far enough away from very busy areas to be quiet enough (for New York) but also only minutes from Grand Central for easy access to subway and bus.
I previously posted a complaint about poor after-visit Customer Service when I had been billed for credit card charges which I had not made. Initially my complaint was ignored but i have since been contacted by a Director and my gripe has been answered to my satisfaction. I have withdrawn my previous posting. I am now going to return and look forward to another excellent stay.

ServiceWe stayed at The Barclay 2 dec '04 for 3 nights. We arrived after a long flight to be told that the room we had booked was unavailable as the people before us refused to leave the room and the hotel could not remove them. Not a great start BUT then we were told that as compensation we were being up-graded to the Presidential suite!!! (Although just for one night) This was fantastic! Even when we were moved to our normal room – although a lot smaller than the suite – which was massive with 3 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, lounge & kitchen – we were still pleased. The hotel is a great base as its close G.C Station and 5th Avenue all within walking distance. The hotel restaurant is quite expensive but the food was fab! If I were to visit NY again I would definitely stay here! The hotel is posh but not uncomfortable so.

ServiceWe stayed here in March 05 for 5 nights. The hotel was fab and has been decorated to a very high spec. The location was excellent, close to subway and walking distance to many familiar places, we actually got the train back to JFK and were there within an hour from the hotel.
The room was big enough and the bathroom had plenty of room, it was very clean & the maid service excellent. We asked for extra towels one evening and they arrived in about 10 mins. The bed was great but we did find the pillows a bit soft. We stayed on the 10th floor so the noise from the street was minimal, we were so tired from all the walking/shopping anyway we probably wouldn't have noticed! We did not eat here at all so I don't know what the food was like.
I would absolutely stay there again the next time we go to New York & I'd definitely recommend this hotel to others. We booked this room for $200/ night including tax and I think it was good value for the type of room we got.

ServiceJust returned home on 16/03/05 Stayed at the Barclay for 8 nights could not have asked for a better place to stay. The location was spot on,room excellent.
Our room was on the 10th floor at the side overlooking the Waldorf lovely and quiet, room was spotless nothing to complain about. We had a triple room which we had booked back in September total charge for all three of us was £880. Excellent value,we never got to try out the gym or other facilities including dining as we were out and about everywhere but it was so nice to come back to such a lovely room at the end of the day very comfortable and the beds were amazing.
staff were very nice ,as soon as we arrived we asked for a quiet room, that was no problem and they checked us in straight away at 1.30 even though we were early.Would highly recommend.
