“Simply Delicious!”

My two girlfriends and I had a dinner reservation at Simply Pasta for 5:15. I came across the restaurant here on TripAdvisor (of course :) ) and was impressed by the great reviews. After getting out of our matinee earlier than expected, we arrived at 4:45 to a fairly empty restaurant. We were seated and presented with menus immediately. The decor was modern with colorful lighting and giant pasta suspended from the ceiling! Shortly after being seated we were treated to bruschetta and a plentiful bread basket. The service was very attentive without being intrusive. The prices on the menu are the same for lunch and dinner and are reasonable by CT standards and quite a bargain by NYC standards! I ordered the Gamberi alla Spiedo ($12.95, really!) which was delicious angel hair pasta with perfectly cooked shrimp, basil, plum tomatoes and garlic. Yummy! Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. Just one note of caution, when the waiter asked my girlfriend if she would like soup or salad with her meal, she thought that it was included with her meal. By the way that he stated the question, I can see why she might have thought this. She still enjoyed the house salad (it had apples, dried cranberries and goat cheese) even for $8.25. It could easily have been a meal on it's own. We were too stuffed for dessert so we passed but when the waiter brought our bill, it was accompanied by a tasty Italian cookie! By the time we were leaving the restaurant, it was packed! Definitely a wonderful value- delicious food, great service, reasonable prices!

“Dined there several times---great!”

We visit NYC several times a year and dine here after each busy day. We love it. Great service, wonderful food.

We went to Simply Pasta April 3, 2008 at 6 p.m. (on the way to Young Frankenstein) with no reservation and were seated immediately. Within minutes we had an assortment of breads and our drinks. The waiter helped us choose from the extensive menu. The food was awesome! The portion sizes were just right. We had a great dinner and glass of wine for 2 for under $35. We liked it so much, we went back another night, but were dissapointed to find out they closed at 9 (we showed up at 9:05).

“Terrible Service!”

After reading the reviews on Tripadviser we were expecting good things of Simply Pasta.....big mistake. We arrived at about 8:45pm and were shown to a table....so far so good....after about 10 mins a waiter comes over and tells us we have 3 mins to order our food because the kitchen closes at 9!

Why they didnt tell us this at the front door I dont know. So we order but they are in such a hurry to get rid of us they are literally packing up tables around us! Our starters arrive and when we are half way through our main course arrives! They actually bring over the table next to us to put the extra plates on.

The food was average. At the end of the meal we pay by cash and the waiter asks if we need change which we say yes...he returns the bill with the suggested tip underlined! I complain about why were not told the restruant was closing when we walked in but he is not interested.

This place is probably ok as long as you dont go when they want to close! Having said that we had a fantastic meal at nearby Scarlatto on 47th street....if only we had gone back!
