Just returned from the Westin at Times Square in NYC. Excellent hotel--very modern with good amenities & location..upgraded to a club level room using Starwood Points--worthwhile--great lounge with good breakfast and afternoon refreshments....would definitely stay here again--great bedding, modern bathroom, close to all broadway shows--very helpful concierge's desk--check in easy and friendly staff!

To be fair, this is a good hotel. We had an club level room and loved having the Apple computer and free internet access. It was extremely useful.

We chose to stay here following reading a number of reviews on this web-site. The room was a good size and it was tastefully decorated. It was useful having breakfast in the club room especially with little ones. The location was good too. I had no problems with the location. Some people mentioned that Times Square would be a nightmare for driving because of the one way system. We had a navigation system in the rental car (an absolute must for going to NYC) and we didn't get lost once. Toys R Us with its ferris wheel is very close and the kids enjoyed the ride.

On the negative side, we arrived at about 3.00 and the lobby was heaving so it took us about 30 minutes to check in. If you have a car parked at the hotel, do remember to get the reception to stamp your ticket and also to hand over the porter/bell hop ticket so that your luggage is delivered to your room.

I would have given this hotel a much higher rating if we didn't have a problem with the room cleaning. Having been out all day, we returned to our room to find that it still wasn't made up. I had left our dirty laundry in the appropriate bag on our door, as the laundry sheet advised that laundry to be done the following day should be outside your hotel room by 9.00 in the morning. I dutifully did this, but did not call reception to ask someone to pick the laundry up. The maid therefore saw the laundry on the door and decided not to clean the room. The maid gave me real attitude when I asked her why she hadn't cleaned the room and if she could do it now. I was quite surprised by how rude she actually was! I reported this to the concierge and to be fair the next day the cleaning was done quickly and efficiently. Lesson learned: if you want trays picked up, laundry picked up or anything else done - simply call the express phone number on the phone and don't hang around waiting for things to happen because they won't!

Finally, we took advantage of the hotel doctor because my son had developed an ear infection and was in a good deal of pain. I should stress that there isn't a "hotel" doctor, but a number the hotel gives you for an on-call doctor who will come to your hotel room. The doctor called to understand the age of the patient and the problem before arriving laden with all the correct medications, antibiotics, drops, injection etc. It was a little OTT but we were flying in 36 hours and I didn't want to risk a problem. I was fairly impressed by the doctor's conscientiousness until I got the bill which was for $510. I almost fainted! Worse, I had to pay the doctor in cash as she wouldn't take any cards. Fortunately, there is an ATM in the lobby, but I did feel a bit like a pimp paying her by the elevators. Our insurance wouldn't cover the bill when we got back home because the doctor was outside of our health care network. Just beware of this in advance and check that you are covered should the need arise!

Another plus (I thought) was the food. The room service menu was unusually good, varied and HEALTHY! The children's menu was also a refreshing change to the norm. I was impressed.

“Fantastic as usual”

This was our 3rd visit to The Westin Times Sqaure and we where not dissapionted.

We have always booked the deluxe.high floor rooms as the view is fantastic. We did however on this occasion book the Club rooms with the executive club access. Before we arrived i e mailed the hotel and asked could we have a high floor room with a view of the city but still have the executive club access. The club rooms are bigger but are on floors 10 - 16.

At check in we were given our room on the 43rd floor with a fantastic pitcure of the empire state building and surrounding buildings. We had club access as paid for. The rooms are very nice , good sized windows and comfy beds, we did have to ask for extra shampoo, ect as there were the 4 of us in the room, 2 adults, 2 children.

Just a few hours after arriving, we got back to the hotel after Lion King and found a lovely cake with Happy Birthday laid out for me with a card, what a lovely surprise. The cake was fab too.

The executive club for breakfast was very good, we could always find a clean table and the selection was very good.

Pastries, toast, fruits, porridge, juices, coffee, tea, eggs. ect. It was all presented nicely and we ate in here on all 4 out the 5 mornings. We never did go in for the evening snacks, ect, we where always busy out and about.

Overall another wondeful stay at The Westin. We hope to be there again very soon.

“Mostly great, but ...”

The Westin New York at Times Square

Feb 19, 2008

For theatergoers, the location is phenomenal. We were no more than two blocks from our theaters, Birdland, great restaurants, etc. Great access to the subway. The hotel was, as other reviewers have pointed out, newish, very clean, and well run. The room was spacious and well appointed, and the view (from the 25th floor) was terrific. Our only complaint goes to the lack of soundproofing--we could hear doors closing, toilets flushing, ice making, and conversations in adjoining rooms. That said, we got a terrific rate on Priceline, and we would go back.

My wife and I spent a single night there two and half years ago and we still talk about it!

First:
The service is excellent, a very helpful young man at reception made sure everything was just so and was polite in the extreme.

Second: though the room was on the small side, it was very well appointed and the decor was magnificent. We were on the Spa level and there was a message chair in the room. That was so wonderful after a day of walking around the city.

The view was ok, nothing special even though we were fairly high up but at night the view improved with the beautiful lights below us. The bed was the single more comfortable bed I have ever had the joy to sleep in. It was a slice of heaven.

We did not eat a meal at the hotel but we did have a late desert and it was delicious.

The location is perfect for a weekend of broadway shows and for exploring Manhattan. There is simply nothing we would change about the hotel.
