We are parents of a bride who chose to have her wedding at The Castle at Mt. Woodson. She has lived in San Diego for 6 years and we live in Montana and had guests coming from Florida and Colorado. Our daughter researched this hotel and formed a bond with the manager who has catered to our every need and desire. This was a wonderful experience for us and all our guests. An unexpected glitch happened our first evening, Thursday, when all our guests wanted to stay in our suite and talk and we had no food for the mulitudes' suppers. We called The Pegasus Cafe across the street and they hurriedly put together a wonderful and memorable Greek feast for all of us within a couple of hours.
Much later we went down to the bar which is very comfortable , quiet and intimate. The young bartenders were fantastic dealing with our group. I really liked the smallness of this hotel and it was certainly large enough to hold all of us.

“OK but nothing special”

I don't really understand all the positive fuss about this hotel. Just another mainstream business hotel along the freeway. Service was so so. Area is safe. The hotel room is relatively small, the beds are not that comfy and the bathroom door does not remain open (quite annoying but due to safety reasons so they say). All and all not too shabby but nothing special.

“Good Hotel for the price and location”

We were looking for a place to stay for our weekend getaway and weren't looking to spend to much on the hotel. The hotel was near resturants, stores, gas stations etc. so the location was good. We had no problem with our room or the food at the hotel. Going to downtown San Diego took awhile but I enjoyed the different scenery.

“Very nice hotel”

I don't have a bad thing to say about this hotel. It is in a very nice area where we felt safe with our kids. There are many nearby places to eat. And the drive into town (we spent our time at Mission Beach and Seaworld) was not bad at all - we never ran into traffic during the four days we were there. The little bit of a drive is worth it for the extremely decent rates for such a nice hotel. Definitely worth it.. I am still trying to figure out what the underground parking is about, I parked near the front of the hotel the entire time and had no problem with parking. The area is beautiful and I would stay here again.

“Nice hotel”

This hotel is not a fancy hilton with valet or frills. Just a nice, clean, nicely decorated hotel with a fair price. Our room also had a microwave and refrigerator which we took full advatage of by going to the grocerey store 5 minutes away. The breakfast was better than any other complimentry breakfast we have had. Make yourself waffles, oatmeal, pastries, fruit, yogart, cereals. You can also at no extra charge, get made to order gourmet omelets with a variety of herbs, cheeses, meats and avacodo. I also saw other people ordering pancakes and bisuits and gravy with sausage and bacon. It was also nice that although you kind of serve yourself, there was a waitstaff providing you with coffee and hot chocolate with refills. Anyone with children like us can always appreciate a hotel like this.
The only negative thing I have to say is the hotel is not romantic, which was fine since we had our two kids. And the hotel is far away from actual San Diego, which was fine since my husband had business north. We had a nice stay.
