“Great Place for Long Term Parking/Great Accommodations”

Holiday Inn Boston-Logan Airport

4 of 5 stars
woodstock, vermont
May 19, 2008

We made our reservation at the last minute - we had an early flight out of Logan during Spring Break (and a 2 1/2 hour drive to Logan) - we found that long term parking was mostly likely going to be full - and we needed a place to park while we were gone for the week. . We were nervous having read the review but we figured for one night we could live with it.

We were pleasantly suprised! The staff was helpful, the hotel was very clean, the rooms were recently renovated and were almost identical to those in the 4-star (and highly priced) Inn in our town.
The parking (up to 10 days0 was included in the price of the room (if you added what long term parking would have cost - the rate for the room was a real deal).

Do not hesitate to stay here for any reason.

“Worked great for us”

Holiday Inn Boston-Logan Airport

4 of 5 stars
Natrona County
May 8, 2008

We moved to this hotel from Salem to catch a flight and avoid the morning traffic. Since the outside of the hotel is certainly nothing special, we were pleased to find ourselves in a newly renovated room. In fact, it appeared the whole hotel was in the process of being updated. Despite that, we found it to be quiet and appreciated the doors that closed themselves quietly. The fitness room was not ready and they had a few pieces of equipment in an open area above the lobby. Lack of adequate fitness center and the fact that one elevator was not working, which caused a morning check out traffic jam, were the ony drawbacks we experienced, and they will surely not be an issue as the hotel completes the work. We arrived at the airport and returned our rental car with no difficulty. Under the same circumstances - early flight out - we would definitely stay here again.

“Not as bad as some have said.”

Holiday Inn Boston-Logan Airport

3 of 5 stars
San Francisco
Apr 29, 2008

My wife, college age son, and I were in town to see Boston College. This was the weekend of the Marathon, and this was the only "reasonably" priced hotel we could book.

We were prepared for the worst, but our room was newly renovated on the third floor, and was just fine.

There is a shuttle that will take you to the airport or to the nearby Metro stop. We were there three nights, and used the Metro for the first two days. It can add 10 or 15 minutes to wait at the station for the shuttle to come get you, but we were not worried for our safety, even at 11pm.

Our room keys often would not work, requiring a trip down to the desk to recharge them, which was mildly annoying.

We were able to use the wireless with no trouble... but it was not super fast. You have to pick up the password at the check-in desk... the staff did not point that out.

We did not eat at the hotel, we ate at downtown. In fact, we were only at the hotel to sleep... we headed out first thing in the morning, and returned after dinner.

The staff was polite and helpful (except for one instance when we called for the internet password and she was annoyed that we hadn't picked it up).

I think things will improve as the remodel progresses.

    • Liked — it was available for less than $500 per night!
    • Disliked — it was further away from downtown than I would have preferred.

“The good, the bad, & the ugly”

Holiday Inn Boston-Logan Airport

2 of 5 stars
Mclean VA
Apr 10, 2008

This hotel is located in an industrial/commercial area about a mile away from the airport. As others have reported, it is not the best location, and I agree.

Check in was okay but despite being a Platinum Priority Club member, my check in paperwork was not prepared in advance. But I did receive a goodie bag with a bottle of water and some snacks.

The lobby seemed dark and dingy to me and the elevator to the 8th floor looked as if it had not been refurbished since 1970. I got really scared when the elevator stopped on a floor to discharge some swarthy looking fellows on the 3rd floor and saw light fixtures dangling by wires in the corridor. Yikes. The 8th floor looked okay but was not well lighted.

I was quite pleasantly surprised to find that opening the room door, the room was actually nice. Seems they are renovating the hotel from top to bottom. Everything in my room was clean, new and fresh. Modern decor, bright clean bathroom, flat screen HD tv, new carpeting and linens.

I had considerable trouble hooking into the hotel's wireless internet. I had to call the front desk for the password - you would have thought it would have been provided on check in - and later had to call their tech support to have the internet connection reset. And even when connected I swear it was no faster than dialup.

The bathroom was entirely new. Only complaint there was the rather skimpy towels and the fact that only soap and shampoo was offered.

The restaurant offered typical overpriced fare but I'm not sure what other local options there are to eat around the hotel. I received a voucher for a free continental breakfast. Cold cereal, fruit, muffins, the usual. A larger buffet is available for a fee. I was a bit miffed in that I was charged a $1.79 gratuity for the continental breakfast. I am not cheap and always leave a tip but the fact that they charged me for it was bad taste.

During dinner the fire alarm went off - I believe another Trip Advisor reported this also. The waitresses told us to stay and continue "enjoying" our dinner. Yeah right. The alarm must have sounded for ten minutes until it was shut off. The staff attributed it to the workmen in the hotel.

The bed was comfy. No problems but will also echo other's comments about thin walls. I was able to hear the person next door on the telephone.

The hotel did not offer an express check out. I had to stop at the desk on the way out.

I do not get to Boston often but if I do I will look to stay elsewhere.

“Not Even for One Night!”

Holiday Inn Boston-Logan Airport

I've been meaning to write a review & time has not made my heart grow any fonder of this hotel. I stayed for only one night & that was one night too long.

I checked my bag before my room was ready. When I returned & asked for it, it they told me to go find it; it was thrown together with other bags in a back room.

My room was filthy!

The bulb on the desk lamp in my room was dead. I gather this is the norm.

The bathroom was filthy!

A creepy guy in the room next door was crying into a telephone for over an hour & I could hear every word.

Back away & run, do not walk, from even thinking about booking rooms in this dump!
