“Magnifico! Delicious Food, Fun Atmosphere, Great place!”

We made reservations for our 5th Anniversary dinner about five days in advance for a Friday night at 7pm. We arrived a few minutes late and as we walked in the manager/owner (?) asked if we had reservations and said he's have a table in one minute. A few minutes later we were seated at the best seat in the house...right on the street! This is our opinion because you have the loudness of the fun atmosphere on one side of you and the quietness of the street on the other. This restaurant is on the smaller side and the tables are a little close but not space-invading.

When you walk into Dolce Vita, you feel like you are transported to a place in actual Italy. There were two men going around singing to each table playing an accordian and a guitar. They were absolutely wonderful! Whenever they played a well-known Italian song, everyone was encouraged to sing along.

Our waiter was nice and quick with everything and never forgot about us even in the hustle and bustle of all that was going on.

We had good house wine and delicious bruschetta. I had the Eggplant Rollatini which was to die for! Nice large portions leave you very satisfied if not with a doggy bag. We were so full that we couldn't fit any dessert or coffee.

We were happy to find this restaurant because it has basic authentic Southern Italian food and is more affordable than most North End restaurants. Keep in mind this is not a quiet candlelit place...it's loud and fun but equally romantic. The singers that I mentioned made there way to our table and sang two slow Italian love songs. This night ended up being so perfect for our Anniversary and we would highly recommend it to anyone for any occassion.

I was actually surprised to read the negative reviews. I guess restaurants are hit or miss depending on who's working on what night. But our advice based on our great time would be don't write this place off!

“Dolce Vita - Best Italian Restaurant”

Dolce Vita is a quaint Italian restaurant on Hanover Street in the beginning of the North End of Boston. The food was superb. The bartender and server were excellent and the owner is always there checking on most tables to make sure your dining experience is great. It was the best meal we had in Boston.

Ate lunch here on a hot Sunday. The host enthusiatically welcomed us into the restuarant although the waiter was more reserved. The food was excellent; the best meal I had in my several days in Boston. The prices were within reason.

“The Best Italian Food Ever!!”

Dolce Vita

Jun 5, 2006

My husband and I stumbled upon this quaint restaurant while visting the North End of Boston recently and the experience was the highlight of our trip. The owner was out on the street and greeted us as we walked by in search of a place to eat. He was very friendly, but not pushy and suggested that we try his place. We smiled politely and gave it some thought and walked on. After about a block my husband and I looked at each other and said sure why not. My husband's grandfather was from Sicily and he grew up around Italian cooking. I on the other hand have to be persuaded to eat Italian because I've never been a fan. Well- that all changed when we had dinner there. Everything I had was beyond words wonderfull!! I got the Pasta Fagioll and it was the best!! My husband got the chicken marsala and he said it was the best he ever had, and he would know. The red sauce that came with his side of pasta was the best I ever tasted, and I've eaten in Little Italy in Baltimore!!

For dessert I tried the cannoli because I just knew it would be wonderful and it was!! I'm convinced so many other places have no clue how to make cannoli, but they do here. My husband had the tiramasu and it was great too. The service was quick and friendly the manager came over and checked on us while we dined. The espresso was perfect.

If we could afford to fly to Boston we would try and come back often just to eat here!!
Highly recommended it. Very romantic.

“A rip off”

This is the most pushy restaurant I have ever eaten in. They make you feel like they are doing you a favor. I had a cold antipasto it had no meats or cheeses except the mozzarella on the tomato could be measured in milimeters and in general it was disappointing. I had made reservations an yet when we arrived it was if we had not. In general the mains were OK but all the appertizers were very over priced. The wines were a real ripoff. We had the wine suggested by our waiter as the HOUSE WINE an it cost me almost $50 with tax an tip. This wine was a low priced wine in any wine store. We had a cannoli which is a $3.50 to $5.00 item in most restaurants but here it was $6.00. Regular coffee was $2.50. I have eaten all over the world an if anyone wants to be treated with distain I suggest this restaurant they will empty your pockets quickly. In general there are many nice restaurants in Boston but this is not one of them. .
