I chose La Cappella as a much more sensible choice than being ripped off USD 450+ per night in the Boston Marriott Long Wharf. In the Italian quarter you are surrounded with fantastic bars and restaurants..............the only problem is parking if you have a car.

La Cappella was pretty well how I expected it. The rooms are immaculately clean and well equipped. This is not a hotel, but something more individual and personal, and the owner leaves you very much at peace, giving you 100% privacy.

The climb up to the fifth floor can only do you good, even if you are carrying a heavy suitcase. I must have lost several pounds gained in the Italian restaurants nearby, just going up and down those stairs over the four days. But I liked my suite at the top with views down into the street and out over nearby rooftops. This was part of the feel of living in the Italian quarter.

When I return to Boston I will definitely see if there is room at La Cappella. This is good value for money, pristine accomodation in the best part of Boston.......apart from the parking!

We stayed 3 nights at La Capella Suites. When we arrived an enveloppe was expecting us in the hall with keys to the room etc. So we supposed there was no Inn Keeper in the house.
The concept is like an appartement with several rooms and you share the kitchen with other guests. The fridge was filled with all we needed for breakfast. The room was smaller than expected but nicely furnished and clean. Bathroom was seperated and clean. An internet connection was available in the kitchen.
After our 4 days there without seeing any Inn keepers, we were very surprised to realise that the inn keeper, Tricia, was living in the house!! But she didn't find it important to show up for five minutes and introduce herself, and maybe welcome us in her place? That was a disappointement.
Our room was on the 5th floor and there's no lift. If you travel by car, it's really difficult to park and parkings are not for free.
Place is located in a very nice area full of bars, animation and restaurants. Very central.

We stayed here for three nights. The first night there wasn't any air conditioning on in the room and it was very hot. The innkeeper was no where to be found and we did not have a thermostat in the room. We hardly slept that night. The next day I called her and she said she would put it on. The sofa bed for my son was in poor condition and if he turned over he had to try not to fall through to the floor. The second night (the innkeeper has you let yourself in using a keypad code) another guest was banging on the door yelling that he could not let himself in (this woke us up from a sound sleep). The third night the innkeeper was there and she allowed her kids to have a sleepover. The kids were loud until late at night and I guess she has no regards for the guests cause she didn't quiet them down, then they were noisy early in the morning. The innkeeper is rarely available for you. The "concierge service" she talks about on her website is probably the Boston guidebook and map she leaves in the room. Also, there isn't any elevator so you have to carry your own luggage up all the steps yourself. On the good side, the location is great. Restaurants within walking distance, the subway "T" is convenient, also the Freedom Trail. In conclusion, it is in a good location, but I would suggest staying somewhere else.

Just got back from a two day stay here and was not all that impressed. It seems that hotels were VERY full in Boston this weekend, maybe due to the Sox-Yankees games, and we were unable to find a reasonable priced down town hotel on-line or through Priceline. So, after reading about this facility on their website, I was very excited to hear back from an inquiring e-mail. Tricia, the manager, told us "the suite on the 2nd floor opened up on 9/30 and 10/1. The 2nd floor suite consists of a bedroom with one king bed, as well as a phone, TV and DVD player. There is an adjacent sitting room with a pull-out sofa bed, coffee maker and small fridge. There is also a private bath between the sitting room and the bedroom. There is no access to kitchen facilities on the 2nd floor so breakfast is not included but we do provide coffee. The rate is $150 per night, including all taxes."

It all sounded good but when we arrived, I was a bit disappointed. FYI:There is a two flight walk up on stairs to get to the suite, so don't stay here if you have any problems with carying your suitcases up the stairs. They do provide a complimentary on-site luggage storage which is available during the days of arrival and departure. There is only minimal street parking close by so it would be much better to NOT have a car while staying here.

The manager was out of town for the weekend we were there and had someone else managing the suites, so maybe that was why our room was not really clean when we arrived (old newspapers on the floor in one corner and it did not appear to have been vacuumed).

I get a bit claustrophobic and the adjacent sitting room had no windows and was very cave-like. The bedroom did have two windows but they were about shoulder level which didn't really matter since there was only a view of the apartments across the street anyway. The king size bed was pretty old. Probably the worst part was the noise from what must have been a child running and jumping on the floor above us which started early and lasted till around 9:30 or 10:00 pm. We did not spend much time in our room which was good because we did not want to spend much time there.

The location was the best feature of this facility, a fairly close walk to the harbor walk and freedom trail.

All in all, it was okay for two nights and, maybe the upstairs suites would be better, but, on an ordinary weekend, you could probably do better with a priceline hotel.

“Great location, good amenities”

I spent three nights in two rooms in the LaCapella. I stayed in one front bedroom with a king-sized bed on the fifth floor, then a back bedroom with queen-sized bed on the fourth floor. I thought that building was charming and the amenities were great -- free fast internet access in the suite, well-stocked kitchen for a self-catered breakfast, direct local phone number, nice towels and linens, etc. It was a bit odd sharing the space with someone in the other bedroom at the end of the suite, and the back bedroom was not ensuite, but I did not find it to be a problem. It was certainly as good as not better than a multi-room b&b with shared common space. If you can manage climbing several flights of stairs and don't mind not having exclusive use of the space if you are renting only one bedroom, this is a great value in a fantastic location. It would also be great for two couple or a family looking for a reasonably priced hotel alternative.
