“Commonwealth is more comfortable than home”

Hotel Commonwealth

5 of 5 stars
Tarzana, CA
Aug 29, 2008

We were working on a film in Boston and had the pleasure to stay at the Commonwealth for an extended stay. This 1st class hotel really out did itself day after day. It's location to Fenway Park is awesome. The restaurants attached are top notch. The service is spot on. If you are going to Boston you must stay here! Luxury and comfort are defined at the Hotel Commonwealth!

“Simply Fabulous”

Hotel Commonwealth

5 of 5 stars
Eliot, ME

The Hotel Commonwealth was simply wonderful! I just stayed there with several family members and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating - the doorman even greeted us by name each evening. Turndown service was exceptional (the cookies...yum!) and the location was perfect (for those who are interested in the Fenway/university area). There is a T stop right downstairs and the rest of the city is easily accessible from there.

The Eastern Standard restaurant was delightful! The bar tenders and wait staff were knowledgeable and attentive. I was traveling with my 3 1/2 year-old niece and they were very wonderful about the special requests she made for dinner.

Overall, a fabulous experience! We loved this hotel and will gladly return. If there is a down side (and I don't think there is), it's that they don't have in-room coffee makers or a pool.

“Luxury Plus!”

Hotel Commonwealth

5 of 5 stars
Kalamazoo, Michigan
Aug 8, 2008

I travel quite a lot on business and I have to say that this was one of the most comfortable hotels I've stayed in. In fact, when I tried to think of what I would change about it to make it perfect, there wasn't much I could come up with! The bed was wonderful, lots of nice, thick towels, TWO flat-screen TVs with DVD players (that was definitely overkill!), lots of space... There was no coffeemaker in the room, but they had wonderful coffee available in the lobby OR they would deliver a coffeemaker to your room upon request. They actually asked whether or not I wanted a paper (I hate wasting it at most hotels, but rarely have time to read one) and the staff was very welcoming and courteous.

The ONLY issue I had was the inability to get the room temperature just right, but I am pretty picky about that. Overall, it was a fabulous experience and I highly recommend this hotel.

“Beautiful, Upscale Hotel in Boston”

Hotel Commonwealth

Jul 31, 2008

I stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth twice recently for business and was very impressed. From the moment we first pulled up to the valet parking attendant, we were blown away by the friendly and professional service. We entered the gorgeous foyer and climbed the split staircase into the lobby. The hotel was decked out in classy colonial furnishings that give off an air of sophistication and style. During my first stay, I enjoyed a Commonwealth room, which a view of the major street of the same name. This suite was on sale at the time and priced the same as the smaller guest rooms. The main room had a large king-sized bed, huge closet, flat-screen TV, mini-bar, etc. Then, there was a massive lounge area with desk, second flat-screen, and comfortable chairs. They offered a huge number of cable channels, including 3 different HBOs. And the large marble bathroom was spectacular, with a separate toilet area off to the side.

On my second stay I entered my smaller room to find that my bed did not look made. The decorative pillows were stacked on a neighboring chair and the bed pillows were all arranged on a 120 degree slant. It looked as if they stopped mid-bedmaking. I called the front desk and they sent someone right up. The person agreed the bed was not made, and they switched me to a handicapped room across the hall. When I saw the flat floor of the shower, I asked the bellhop if the bathroom was going to flood when I showered. He said no and quickly left the room. Well, he was wrong because it was like the Great Flood in there. Also, there was no closet, but only a very low bar to hang clothes from. My bathroom was relatively large, but the room was nothing special. On my second night in the handicapped room I came back to find my bed had been made the same way it had been in the first room. Apparently that is just the style they use sometimes. So, basically, I could have enjoyed my original room if the bellhop had told me that in the first place.

In terms of amenities, the gym is decent, but pretty small. It offers 2 treadmills, a stairmaster, 2 ellipticals, 1 bike, and some weights. There are also two restaurants - the more casual Eastern Standard and the fancy Great Bay seafood house. The Foundation Room Lounge is supposedly popular on Wednesday evenings.

I would definitely stay here again now that I understand their bed making style...
