“Excellent Hotel”

Charlesmark Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Medford, MA
Feb 18, 2008

The Charlesmark Hotel is an excellent, small hotel. It only has 33 rooms and it's in a great location in Boston. I do live in the greater Boston area but some friends come up annually for a convention. We found this hotel 3 years ago and it was a great find. Rates are less than the larger hotels in Boston. If you are looking for a pool, health club, though, this is not the place for you. The Charlesmark doesn't have either of these amenities but they do have agreements with a health club in the area for use if you are so inclined. There is free internet in the common area as well as continental breakfast each morning. The breakfast has tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fruit, muffins, bagels, juice. The lower level (basement) has a microwave and ice machine. During the day, the bar isn't open and it becomes a place to sit and read the paper or watch TV. The large common area also has comfortable seating and at night this area doubles as a club. It is up a few stairs and one night there was a private party up there. The steps made it easy for the management to close it off for the private event. Each room has toiletries, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, CD/
DVD player. Our room for 3 had a double bed and a twin sleep sofa with wall shelves and an armoire with plenty of storage. The only thing the rooms lack is a refrigerator. Bottles of water are placed in the room but it would be nice if they were cold. A small cube fridge in each room would make it perfect. We will definitely stay here again.

“Hidden Gem”

Charlesmark Hotel

The Charlesmark is a hidden gem. My son and I traveled to Boston for an audition at Berklee College of Music and this was the perfect place to stay. The hotel is located just steps from the Copley stop on the Green line. It has a trendy, boutique feel to it. The staff was excellent - very helpful. I asked for a lunch recommendation and they sent us to the Parish Cafe (outstanding sandwiches and an amazing gourmet mac and cheese). We stayed in 502 and had a great view of the Boston Public Library. The breakfast was mediocre at best, but why would you want to eat at a hotel when there are great spots all around you on Newberry Street. While the room was on the small side, it was appointed well and the granite bathroom and shower was outstanding.

“Loved the CharlesMark”

Charlesmark Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Massachusetts
Jan 28, 2008

First time at the CharlesMark and I will certainly go back! The girl at the front desk was extremely helpful, the bar staff was great - friendly, entertaining, great martinis. The room we had was fabulous. Clean, modern - everything you need. It was great walking into the room with the lights dimmed, a great smell and classical music playing softly from the speakers - just a nice extra added touch. Great location on Boylston St. Great prices. Highly recommended.

“Nice, convenient hotel”

Charlesmark Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Phoenix, AZ
Jan 25, 2008

I picked the Charlesmark because it was the most reasonably priced hotel I could find in the area. It wound up being a great find- it was clean, the staff was helpful, and the location very convenient to all our sightseeing. There are also lots of bars, restaurants and shopping in the area. The hotel has a very nice bar where we wound up hanging out for quite a while both nights of our stay. Our room was not huge, but it suited our purposes just fine. Some other reviews have mentioned the hotel being noisy, but we did not notice anything out of the ordinary.

“great place to start our holiday”

Charlesmark Hotel

Dec 29, 2007

Very easy to find from the underground station. Rooms small by American standards but big enough for a couple of days stay. The one down side was the air-conditioning - it was very hot when we arrived in Boston so we had to use the air-con. Our unit was noisy and so was the one in the room next door.
The breakfast provided was a good way to start the day. The hotel staff were friendly, room was clean and shower was excellent.
