“Great stay, slightly scary location.”

Excellent value for money at this hotel, considering its in "downtown" boston. First off, the lobby and rooms are impeccably clean and new, the beds are comfy and the bathroom clean and shiny. I was surprised the hotel looked this good for a doubletree, but i think its new. Probabaly a great place to stay with a family too. No complaints about the hotel, but the location might be a put off, especially at night. The location is near the major Tufts hospital, but lands in between the no man zone of the scary at night downtown crossing and the nobody is there after 10pm chinatown. Would not feel comfortable walking around at night trying to get back to the hotel, especially if a female. The staff at the hotel are good, they do their job, nothing more or less.

“We had a great stay!”

We stayed here from a Friday to Sunday and had a great time. We got a
great price of $100 per night on Priceline. The hotel is in a great location, I thought. We bought a $15 public transportation pass which
was good for an entire week, though we were only there for 3 days. This was all we used to get around. You can get to this hotel via the
airport bus and subway, and the train stop is so close to the hotel.
Boston Common is a couple of blocks away, and we started our Freedom Trail walk there. As far as what people said about the neighborhood, I did not find it to be unsafe. Certainly one should be cautious in a major city, but we walked back to the hotel at 9 pm on Friday and 11:30 pm on Saturday, and we were fine. Be aware that wireless is $10
for your stay, but they have some computers near the front desk that you can use for a free, quick email check.

We did not get the famous cookies, but that is probably because we checked in at about 10 am, which I will certainly not complain about!
We were going to give our bags to the concierge and explore the city,
but he said we should try to check in early, and it was fine. For some reason, our reservation was listed as Smoking, which we did not want, but they changed it right away. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay!

“great stay but noisy at night”

Stayed here memorial day weekend. Obtained a suite for $175, on the hotel website. I had concerns about the location, but this dissapeared within minutes of our arrival. The hotel is within a 10-20 minute walk from the historic centre. We walked everyday and felt safe. The NE medical T stop, is metres away. Chinatown and all its great restaurants was just a 5 minute walk away. The suite was very clean. The restroom is due for an overhaul. The bed was extremely comfortable. The suite had a fridge and sink. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. My biggest complainant, which has been raised in other reviews is the noise at night. We had a room facing the parking lot. There is a nightclub nearby and everyone is yelling and screaming at 2am, and engines are reving, I felt sorry for the people who live in the retirement home accross the street. I would recomend this hotel, but try to get a room that does not face the parking lot.

“Got our rooms on Priceline....and got priceline rooms!”

Our family of 4 went college viewing in March. I was surprised at the high cost of rooms in Boston, so I hunted for bargain rates. This was my first time using Priceline and I was pleased with their process. We wanted a hotel on the subway line as we did not plan to rent a car. That worked out great - we got on the subway at the airport, switched lines once I think, then got off less than one block from the hotel. The location of this hotel was perfect - in the downtown area, next to Chinatown and the theater district. We got our rooms for 89.00 each, when most rooms go for more than double that AT LEAST. Here's what you get for the priceline rate - one room was on the 2nd floor directly facing the emergency room of the hospital acroos the street, so yes - there was plenty of noise from sirens. The second room had a lovely view....of a storage room containing folding beds! Seriously - it had a huge window with drapes that looked into a room. Needless to say, those drapes were kept closed. That was our teenagers room, and they were disappointed to have NO view. It snowed during our visit, so they had to come into our room to see the parking lot getting snowy! The rooms were small, clean, and suited our purpose. We did not eat at the hotel, the kids did use the adjoining YMCA and enjoyed that. Across the street in the hospital is an Au Bon Pain restaurant where we atre breakfast most days. We were unable to move our rooms as the front desk told us they were full (we went the week before St. Patty's weekend) but, I think they had rooms as it was NOT busy in the lobby EVER. I think that they have designated "crummy" rooms for the low Priceline rates. All in all, we were pleased with what we got for the price we paid.

“Low quality”

The hotel is located in a bad area, if you walk around you feel like you are in a ghetto.

The rooms are decent size, but terrible tacky furnishing seems more like a lower end chain than a usual Doubletree.

The front desk staff has an attitude problem.

I will not stay here again.
