“Doesn't feel like a four star hotel...”

To be honest, I expected more from a Fairmont hotel. While the Fairmont Copley Plaza is situated in a beautiful, historic building, you don't really get much in return for the price you pay to stay in this hotel. The mini-bar prices are absolutely outrageous ($7 for a bottle of water!), and the internet fees are ridiculous ($14/day). Luckily, I am a member of their President's Club so I did not have to pay the daily internet fee. Though the hotel is in a great location and right next an enormous indoor mall, we were given a room with no view, and the furniture was rather old and musty looking. I expected a better room (perhaps with an actual view) for a President's Club member. I would not stay at this hotel again...I would recommend the Bulfinch hotel which is also in downtown Boston, cheaper, and nicer rooms without the outrageous prices!

In the three nights we stayed at this property, we occupied three different rooms, not by choice, of course.

First, we found a large wet spot on the carpet, and asked to be moved. The new room ended up being smaller than the first one, but we stayed anyway. Second, our door key reader did not work, so we asked for help. After an hour spent standing in the hallway while the security staff tried to fix the door (we were given no timeframe for how long this was going to take), we were finally packed off to another room because they couldn't fix it. The bellman came by, handed us the new keys, and didn't even bother to help us with our bags.

The only staff who expressed any level of concern for our comfort and inconvenience were the housekeeping staff; the security, front desk and bell staff were not helpful and lacked customer service skills. We will not stay at this property again.

“A Four Star Nightmare!”

The Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston

I have stayed in several hotels in Boston, ranging from 2 to 4 stars, and I have to say, I'll stay in the Ho-Jo at Fenway before I stay at this terrible hotel! First, the heater was pumping 80* into the room with no relief, and the window that should have opened did not. The bed was a double, not a queen-size, which is what we had paid for and even been told at the front desk we were supposed to get.
The worst by far was when we tried to finally sleep- there was a loud obnoxious party across the hall. By 12:30 at night I had called 4 times to the front desk to do something about it. *Four times!* Security did not do anything about it, and by the final time, I went downstairs in my PJ's to tell them it wasn't being taken care of. Their "Four Star" security was just standing around on their walkie talkies while the party continued with the doors wide opened. I finally stated we'd be willing to switch to another room. So, at 1 in the morning, we packed up our stuff and had to move to another room.
And the 2nd room smelled like something had died in it. Luckily the heater wasn't broken in this one, but the odor was horrible. We decided to make the best of it, because clearly telling the apathetic staff at this hotel that anything is wrong is a waste of energy.
The next morning I spoke to the manager and told him of the awful experience. I told him if we wanted a party across the hall from us keeping us up at all hours of the night with a small bed and a broken air system in the room we would have stayed at a 1 or 2 star motel/hotel. But, instead, we had opted to pay hundreds of dollars to stay in their "Four Star" hotel for only one night. There was no mention of taking anything off the bill or comping our stay. All he did was offer up a free upgrade and free breakfast the next time we stayed at The Fairmont Copley Plaza.

Which, of course, will never happen again. Save your hundreds of dollars you'll spend on this joke of a four star.

love the Fairmont , this is our 2nd time staying there and will continue going back, best hotel we have ever stayed at. We stayed on the Gold floor which was amazing! The staff was fantastic. And the food was awsome at the resturant down stairs,
The lobby is decorated beautifuly especially at christmas time.
Can't say enough good things about this place the only thing that would be nice if they had a spa, but the service is so good you dont notice it doesn't have one. Gotta try the gold floor!

“Unsurpassed”

My daughters and I just spent a week in New England and started our trip at the Copley Plaza. I had never stayed there before and now I will never stay anywhere else in Boston! I haven't enjoyed such truly outstanding, caring service, in many years.

We arrived at 5:30 a.m. in the morning after a red-eye flight. We were assured that not only was our room ready for us (on the Gold floor), but we had been upgraded to a suite for our stay. The suite (the Boston Symphony Orchestra Suite) was a treasurehouse of photographs, posters, and scores from the Boston Symphony and a beautifully decorated suite with a view of Copley Square.

Breakfast on the club floor is amazing. The first morning I went down very late and the lovely young server cooked us a beautiful breakfast to order well after normal breakfast hours. Similarly, our waiter the next two mornings not only served us beautifully but took extra care to find out what my daughters wanted to do in Boston and to give us map guidance, restaurant, and shopping suggestions; then inquired how we had enjoyed everything the next morning. Every staff person we encountered was outstanding. On the last day, as we loaded our suitcases into our rented car for our car trip through New England, the doorman retrieved our bags for us and then guided us across all lanes of traffic so that we could safely turn onto I-90. We also felt that Katie, the local black Lab, lent a sweet, homey touch to the lobby, which is elegant and relaxing.

I just can't say enough good about this hotel! Now everything else will pale in comparison!
