“Good hotel but location can take some planning for transit”

Friday night stay, king bed non smoking, was on 16 of 16 floors with high sided balcony overlooking river and skyline (H-Honors member). Spacious standard chain room. Balcony was fun and helpful as Mars was very visible and got some great shots. Hotel has Jazz bar onsite and bar and food. Location is not the best but there is a free shuttle with scheduled pickups from Harvard station and drop off locations to Quincy Market, Copley, and 2 others. Cabs are very expensive and not recommended. I took the subway to Harvard and got picked up from there. Shuttle drivers seem flexible to drop off anywhere along the standard drop off route. This was the high point, the shuttle due to the northeast location. Get a free cookie for checking in :) Water pressure and noise were no issue. Hotel is recommended if the location is not offputting to you.

We stayed here for 1 night before going to New York and despite the fact that it was quite expensive especially since that wasnt including breakfast,we found it very enjoyable. The rooms and bathrooms are spotless and nice. Nothing special but quite reasonable.

Stayed the 1st and 2nd of Oct. room was average at best. Torn fabric on chair one bar of soap for 3 days and two nights. Ordered room service and they brought part of the order had to call back and they brought most of the rest but still no dinner rolls and I got charged for soup that never arrived service in the restraunt was almost as bad. Had tickets for free breakfast and after being seated the first day never saw a waitress again and on the second day they didnt bring any coffee or juice until I was almost done. This hotel is out of the way for downtown and certainly not worth staying at if that is what you are looking to do. If you are going to sight see stay downtown. And I am a Hilton Diamond member so if I was getting preferred service I would hate to think what they give to regular guest.

“Classy Hotel”

Doubletree Guest Suites Boston

We stayed at the Doubletree Suites for two nights as our son began college. The one bedroom suite was more than enough for three people. The HDTV in the "living room", which has the pull-out couch, is great. (The number of cable channels is very high for a hotel.) There's a second TV in the bedroom. There are telephones everywhere, including the bathroom. The special phone number for Honors guests is a gimmick as it rings to the same place as the help number for every guest. The shuttle to Cambridge was timely in both directions. The concierge is helpful with getting around town. The staff is reserved but polite, ending every conversation with "my pleasure." The buffet is outstanding. Make sure you get the cookies!

Being 3 miles from Harvard Square, we found the Doubletree to be a strong alternative to the more pricey hotels in Cambridge and recommend it to all travelers.
