Three visitors in San Francisco and hungry after attending 49ers game during the day. Parked at Union Square and requested recommendation from concierge at Hyatt downtown for chinese food. They suggested this restaurant a short walk away. It was excellent. Good value for the money. We chatted with a 'regular' from out of town who visits here every time he is in SF on business. He always has a chicken dish. He recommended the lemon chicken and it did not disappoint. We also added egg rolls, a beef dish, and pork fried rice. It was all very good. Coming from Toronto where we have excellent chinese food, this was every bit as good. Thoroughly enjoyed by all of us with a reasonable charge for the entire meal. We sat in the back area, as the front was full. We were joined by a boisterous group from Great Britain near the end of our meal. I would go back and would recommend to friends.

My wife and I are novices when it comes to Chinese food, but Hunan's Home was just what we needed. After walking and walking and walking through Chinatown trying to find authentic Chinese food without the suprise of wondering what we were REALLY ordering, we consulted the Zagat's guide and found Hunan's Home just off of Grant in Chinatown. We went at the peak of the lunch hour without reservations and only had to wait a few minutes. It's a very clean and well-decorated restaurant with excellent attentive (and very friendly) service. We spotted many suit-clad professionals enjoying lunch...it's always good to see locals eating at a popular restaurant.

The food itself was wonderful. They have a very large menu with Chinese dishes most Americans are familiar with (Gen. Tso's Chicken, Cashew Chicken, Moo Goo Gai Pan, etc) as well as other more adventuresome offerings. Personally, I think Hunan Home's Gen. Tso was the best I've ever had. Spicy but not overpowering. Really good stuff.

Perhaps the best part of our meal was the check, it was tiny compared to the rest of our meals in SF. $25 for 2 entrees, drinks (including a beer) and tip. You can't beat that!

In the middle of Chinatown is this great restaurant. This place was recommended by our Hotel concierge.
Extensive menu & great prices.
Food was fantastic. No surprise given the many locals in the restaurant.
