“Best Hostile And Trip Ever”

Banana Bungalow Maui Hostel

This is the best hostile i've ever stayed in. I read some bad reviews after i booked it but figured those were by people that really didn't know what to expect from a hostile so i kept my reservation. And i'm SOOOO glad i did. This is the best hostile i've ever stayed in. The staff and owner are so nice. You feel like family almost instantly. The tours are UNBELIEVABLE. Everything was so great and i wish i never would have had to leave!!! KUDOS for the Bungalow!!

“Best Choice in THE WORLD”

Banana Bungalow Maui Hostel

I stayed at the Bungalow from April 3rd to April 20th, and it turned out being the best 18 days of my life. The people and the staff there are absolutely amazing, and they make you feel so welcome. The beds are comfortable, and they clean everything everyday. The Bungalow made my stay so great, and I am planning on coming back again as soon as possible for a longer stay. I was so sad to go. I highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys the company of some really amazing people. The common room boasts a great TV with tons of channels, a pool table, a fooseball table, and outside there is an area with hammocks and a hot tub for after those lazy days at the beach. The foliage outside is great, and it really brings a great feel of nature to the place. The free tours are a great perk as well if you don't have access to a car to get around, and it's really great having the free internet as well. Never would I even consider staying anywhere other than the Banana Bungalow when I return to Maui.

“Outstanding hostel!”

Banana Bungalow Maui Hostel

Mar 31, 2008

Aloha fellow budget travelers,

Just got back from a week's stay at this amazing hostel and wanted to let you all know that I gladly give this place two BIG thumbs up! I am a single female and seek out hostel accomodations wherever I travel, both for the commraderie and economical advantages. The Banana Bungalow lived up to it's name and then some. The friendly and helpful staff and fellow travelers really added a lot to the character of the place. The staff does an amazing job of cleaning the hostel everyday. The owner of the hostel lives onsite and is super laid back and really goes out of his way to make everyone feel welcome. He even treated us unexpectedly to a keg party on Friday night!! The free tours truly are free as advertised on the internet and really show you the heart and soul of Maui and what makes it so unique. The tour guides are truly wonderful and tireless in their efforts to make your stay and adventures unforgetable. I enjoyed seeing hundreds of humpback whales, swimming with Green Sea Turtles and even seeing Spinner Dolphins jumping in front of the bow of the catamaran boat. This is a trip I will never forget and I am already planning to visit Maui next year with my friends. We will definately be staying at the amazingly cool Banana Bungalow.

Mahalo,
Sheila

“Great People and a Clean Room!”

Banana Bungalow Maui Hostel

5 of 5 stars
Waterford, CT
Feb 22, 2008

I stayed at the hostel with a friend that was not looking forward to sharing a bathroom with others. Since, she wasn't very excited about the bathroom situation we only stayed there our last night. As soon as we checked in and started meeting people she immediatly said, " I wish we stayed here the entire time!" We had a room that was basically in the back yard right next to the hot tub. I was a bit worried about it bc I figured we would be up all night, but amazingly the staff actually enforced the 10pm quite time! I had a great night sleep and was rested for our day in Hana. What ever you do MAKE SURE TO DO THE FREE TOURS!!! They are great! Over all I found the place to be clean, friendly and had everything we needed. I would say if your going to be there for a few days you might want to rent a car (bc the hostel is a bit out of the way) so you can have the freedom to explore. However, if you're going on a budget a lot of people took the bus and managed fine. One thing I would recommend, surf lessons in Lahaina at Goofy Foot! Sooooo much fun! The best thing I did all trip. Have fun!
