We were really happy with this hotel. The lobby isn't much, and overall things look a little old, but the room was really nice. LCD TV, teak wood furnishings, Hawaiian touches. The rooms had been redone recently for sure.
We were on the top floor, in the back of the hotel, and we still could see the ocean from the bed. This was a much better "partial ocean view" than I have experienced in other hotels.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Also, if you can get your hands on an Entertainment book for Hawaii, the hotel resturant as well as other shops have coupons in there.

We got our hotel on Priceline for about 160 per night, double occupancy.

“Great hotel”

Royal Lahaina Resort

We had a great experience at this hotel! Very friendly staff at check in and helping us with our bags. The bellhop even told us some great restaurants in the area. I made sure that they knew it was our honeymoon and we received the King bed, as requested, a free bottle of champagne, and an awesome oceanview (which we were a little worried about because they have so many different levels for ocean view, we chose the ocean view with the free breakfast and it was one of the best views I've ever had). We did have an issue with the balcony door not locking but we were on the 11th floor so we weren't too concerned.

The breakfast buffet was one of the best that I've seen. There are so many options to choose from! The luau was good, but I have heard the the "Old Lahiana Luau" is the best one.

Our only complaint is that the lady checking us in did not tell us that we had to pay $16 a day instead of $10 to get the 2 free Mai Tai's included so we got charged for 3 days worth, so just make sure you ask about it when checking in.

“A Wonderful Ocean Front Hotel in Maui”

Royal Lahaina Resort

5 of 5 stars
Arlington, Texas
Jun 15, 2008

My husband, 4 year old son, and I along with two of our friends stayed at the Royal Lahaina Resort during our 4 day stay in Maui.

When we arrived, we had some really friendly staff greet us and helped with all of our luggage. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful and our friends who had booked a room with a Garden View and were upgraded at no extra cost to a room with a partial ocean view, pretty close to our room.

They have recently refurbished the guestrooms and suites in the 12 story tower and our rooms were very nice with pretty comfortable beds.

They have some shops on grounds and some places to eat (as well as other shops and restaurants nearby) and they also have an Expedia.com on property and the employees there were very helpful in finding us good deals on some of the area attractions. We had never been to a Luau before and they had one right there at the Royal Lahaina, so we bought tickets and had a great time watching the show and enjoying the buffet and drinks.

They have nice swimming pools and it was great to be able to just walk right out to the beach and watch the sun set.

The next time we are in Maui, we will not hesitate to stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort again.

“Fantastic Hotel”

Royal Lahaina Resort

5 of 5 stars
Sydney, Australia
Jun 5, 2008

My husband and I have just got back from Hawaii and when we were in Maui, we stayed at the Royal Lahaina Resort. We stayed in a deluxe ocean room in the tower (recently renovated) and it was fantastic. Photos on the hotel website are exactly what you get and what you get is great.

We were in room 1016 and had wonderful views of the amazing blue ocean and could not complain at all. The room was big (compared to European standards), renovated beautifully, tastefully and not tacky hawaiian. The room was extremely clean, the bed and the egyptian cotton sheets heavenly and it had everything you expect.

We never ate at the hotel restaurants as there were too many to choose from 10mins walk down the street at the Whalers Village or 10mins drive away in downtown Lahaina. They have their own ice cream shop and some great jewellery and clothing shops.

We didn't go to the hotel luau as we were told it was a bit of a letdown so instead paid the extra money to go to the Old Lahaina Luau which was fantastic.

The whole hotel itself and the grounds are beautifully maintained and they are in a great area on Ka'anapali Beach and you couldn't ask for anything more. Hotel great, room fantastic and staff extremely friendly and always willing to help. The only letdown was that as paying guests of the hotel, we thought it a bit rough that you pay $10.00 a night for parking in their big carpark but it seems like all the hotel's charge that.

If your staying in Maui, this is the place to be without spending a fortune while sitting on a beautiful clean stretch of beach.

We wouldn't hesitate a second to stay there again.
