My husband and I took a date last Friday night at this great beach restaurant on Napili Bay, next to the Napili Shores resort. Easy parking and a very pretty walk to the restaurant, we immensely enjoyed ourselves. Not having a reservation (though they are suggested if you don't have much time), we sat outside on the deck to be greeted by our courteous waitress.
We don't drink, and it did leave out a lot of choices for the entrees (contrary to popular opinion, the fact is that 5% of the alcohol in cooking does remain).
What we did have, however, was AMAZING!
My husband went for the Sea Bass. It was a superbly prepared fish served in a gourmet manner. My choice was the Cioppino..basically an ocean medley of lobster, jumbo scallops, huge mussels, ahi and various veggies in a tomato based stew and a large serving of pasta similar to Angel Hair. Fun to see and eat, we also partook of the two kind of European breads in the bread basket.
We ate watching the sun set over the bay as Honu (green sea turtles) popped their heads out of the water in the bay where we'd been snorkeling earlier.
Very romantic, we were also witness to a traditional Hawaiian wedding ceremony. When the couple kissed, we all clapped for them. It was quite endearing.
Had we not been so stuff, we would have ordered dessert--the dessert menu looked very good. :)
As the sun set, the tiki torches were lit by a Hawaiian dressed in traditional garb and the candles on our tables added to the atmosphere.
It was truly the most romantic dinner we'd ever experienced in our 13 years together.
Entrees all cost between $30 to $32 dollars, though they do have daily specials. The special while we were there was one pound of King Crab legs for $28.
A wonderful aspect is that you can just come and eat off the beach(as long as you are sand free and covered up (a towel is accepted). There are NO dinner jacket or tie restaurant requirements anywhere on the islands. It's very laid back.
