“Great Resort!”

We just got back from a weeks stay at the Westin. It was absolutely great! The rooms were perfect for our family. We reserved 3-1 bedroom units. The only problem we had is that we had requested they be close to one another and we were all on seperate floors. Each unit is well equipped with all the necessary amenities. The pools were great and the kids enjoyed the water slide. We rented chairs on the beach several days and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The snorkeling is fantastic right off the beach...no need to take a tour in Maui. My only gripe is that when we went to the conceirge to inquire about tours, we were really pressured into taking a tour of the units for sale. I am on vacation, I do not want to think about any type of business!!!!!

“GREAT PLACE TO STAY”

Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas

We just got back from a fantastic week stay at the Westin Villas North. We purchased a time share last year when we stayed here and this was our first time using it. We loved the Villas North. It does get windy, but when your laying out it feels really quite nice, cools you off. We loved the rooms, the bed is very comfortable, loved having the kitchen where we could buy items for breakfast and lunches and we ate out at the different restaurants in Whalers Village and Lahaina for dinners. The snorkeling is good just right out in front of the Westin. We can't wait to go back. The check it was very quick and the staff quite attentive and very friendly.

“Great family resort - caveat re: Ocean View”

Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas

We stayed in a one bedroom condo in this resort. The unit was very new, well appointed, and in good shape. The bedroom was spacious and so was the bathroom (connected to the bedroom but with separate access through the hallway as well). There aren't many dining choices on premises: a couple of pool bars, a very well-stocked convenience store, and a nice, more formal restaurant. No room service at all. Since all the units have full kitchens, I imagine they’re expecting you to dine in.

The pools are very nice and were not crowded. You can rent floats, covered chairs and tents (and do so in advance if you really want one of the four-person tents).

They are building a spa within the complex, but it was not done in May. For spa services, you have to drive (or take the shuttle) to the Westin hotel down one mile the road.

The only major caveat that I’d make is in regards to what they call ‘ocean view’ suites. We paid extra for an ocean view unit and, upon check in, were shown to a third floor unit that was pretty much facing the kids’ pool but had a partial ocean view from the balcony if you looked all the way to the left. I called the reception to say that we had booked an ‘ocean view’ suite and not a ‘partial ocean view’ one. They replied that all ocean front units are reserved for time share owners (which we are not) and that anything with an ocean view was then called ‘ocean view’. In other words, contrarily to most other resorts, they fail to differentiate ‘partial view’ from ‘ocean view’. Our loss.

“nice place”

Very nice place. Rooms are usually quiet. Very complicated layout, Hard to find anything.

Routes to pool, parking, lobby are not well labeled. I would not want to be in some of the rooms if the place ever caught fire. Not enough parking and parking spaces are too small. Great views from the property of ocean, beach and other islands. Great sunsets. Views from most rooms cannot be that great., My room was mountain view with partial ocean view. You can see the mountain on the other island with a telescope and you might could see the ocean with binoculars. Lahaina is nice area. Lahaina Luau is very, very nice. Hard Rock Cafe food is terrible. Mixed Plate restaurant is very bad. Food and gasoline costs on Maui are exorbitant.

“Good, not Great”

Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas

This was our 4th stay at the Villas, first in the new North rooms.
Now that they have opened the North area, the resort seems huge, not very personal. In the North rooms, the studios have balconies that you can actually stand/sit on unlike the South studio rooms.

Positives -

1. very comfortable beds
2. very nice rooms (jacuzzi tubs, dual showers, granite countertop
3. free shuttles to Lahaina and Ka'anapali all day long
4. free internet in rooms
5. no ridiculous "resort fees"
6. family friendly
7. Lots of pool areas
8. snorkeling right behind resort comparable to Black Rock
9. granite barbeques by pool area
10.. you are in Maui

Negatives -

1. often very windy around pool
2. pool chairs use to have padded cushions, no more
3. service is not great (safe did not work in our room when
we arrived, we called, they promised and when we left a
week later, safe still broken....same with a shower issue)
4. only had one workout area opened, not enough room
5. timeshares going on constantly thru out the day
6. closets very small

Neutrals -

1. Lots of kids
