My boyfriend and I stayed at Susans for two nights in January of this year. Susan was very nice and welcoming and we loved her giant cat George (whom I found out loved dried cuttlefish!). The room is upstairs and had a separate entrance from the rest of the house. The room itself was decorated in pale seashell tones and reminded me of a beachhouse even though it was in the mountains. The room was beautiful and the view was even more lovely. The bed was large and the linens and blankets were perfectly clean and of good quality. The night was very still, but also very hot and I had a hard time falling asleep. In the morning, Susan brought a delicious breakfast, consisting of fresh guava juice, papaya, and chocolate nut bread, and tea, up to our room and set it all up for us. The next day we drove to Kihei and Makena (South side) and had an amazing time. The other great thing about this B & B is that it is centrally located (right in the middle of Maui) so gettting around was not a problem. On our last day in Maui we wanted to go up to the crater to watch the sunrise, since the B & B was only a short drive (30 mins.) from the crater. Susan was very accomodating and gave us blankets and sweaters for our trip and packed our breakfast for us from the night before. The sunrise was okay (took about and hour and a half for the sun to fully rise) but not as amazing as we expected. The drive up was difficult and it was freezing cold on the top so anyone going should take a lot of extra clothes. Overall, our stay at Susans was awesome especially for the price ($85 for high season). Definitely give this place a try if you are a party of two (more and it would be too crowded as there is only one bed).
