I'm seriously beginning to wonder if I stayed at the same place as the majority of reviewers??? I choose to stay at Aston Maui Lu as it was the cheapest place in the brochure. I read all the reviews for Aston Maui Lu and I was seriously worried, however, I stuck with my instincts and I hoped and prayed that the few good reviews had got it right - you did and I must thank you for that!
Originally I booked a garden view room at a cost of £426 for 7 nights. Unfortunately, I missed a night of my holiday due to flight cancellations .... When I finally arrived at Aston Maui Lu I discovered that they'd very kindly upgraded us to the honeymoon suite/ocean view deluxe! We were not disappointed either!
The view was to die for! Ok so the private beaches were only small but they were big enough and the place wasn't crowded anyway. The gardens on the other side were breathtaking! Crossing the little road wasn't too bad at all, and someone always kindly stopped for us.
The rooms were huge, and oh so comfortable. We had the usual sink, few bits of crockery, cutlery, paper towel, coffee pot with a sachet to make 4 x coffee, microwave, large fridge, table, and comfy chairs, writing desk, phone, very big settee that a 6ft person can comfortably lie on, TV, air con. Coffee is actually free at reception between 5 and 9am. There's a toaster there also.
Bedroom had a Queen size bed and was really comfy and clean. Ample cupboard and drawers, 2 double sized wardrobes with mirrors, so us girls can admire ourselves :-/ Another TV, phone, air con, safe in the wardrobe at a cost of just $1.50 daily. Oh I nearly forgot the ironing board and iron which was hiding at the back of the wardrobe - it stayed there too!
Bathroom was huge, with low bath & shower. Huge toilet incase your bum's big ;-) There was 6 large towels, 6 hand towels, 6 flannels/face cloths, which were changed daily if needed. Tissues, soap, body lotion, shampoo & cond were complimentary.
There was a small balcony off both the bedroom and living room, with chairs and a small table.
The rooms were cleaned every day. We had a free newspaper delivered most mornings. The hotel staff couldn't do enough for us. we were supposed to vacate our room by 12 but they let us have it for another 2 and a half hours. When we did check out the lovely lady (can't think of her name - sorry) asked us if we wanted another room, free of charge. We politely declined as we hadn't yet viewed the beautiful gardens. They even had a cold room where they allowed us to put our packed lunch for later. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer!
I've stayed at both good and bad hotels and this has got to be one of the best! Not just for room cleanliness and comfort, but the views - I've never seen anything more beautiful! The staff are so ooooooh everything that you could ever wish for. Just one comlaint - I wish they did food.
