We stayed here twice - one night upon arrival and then again for two nights at the end of our stay.
This hotel is what you pay for - a basic, cheap motel that is clean but dated. It was a great option for us as the price was right and we only used it as a place to sleep. The fact that the pool was always closed didn't bother us because we would not have used it anyway. The service on the first stay was fine, but the second time we were a little disappointed.
We were traveling with our infant daughter and had requested a queen size bed when booking as she was sleeping between us. The first time this request was met, but the second time is wasn't (we were given a room with two doubles). After requesting to switch the desk clerk was quite rude. I accepted her response that my request was only a request, not a guarantee. I asked if they had cribs available instead, and though they did, she was unable to get me one because the housekeeping staff were not on at night. However I had just checked in and there were four women at the front desk. This was the younger woman (I guess this is family run?), and though she was very rude and unhelpful, the older women and housekeeping staff were much friendlier. We did not get a crib as she did not feel it was her job. Rather than get into an argument we just left it at that and made do.
I would still stay there again on the way in and out of Maui, but I would request a crib ahead of time and not count on great service. Of course it is worth staying here for the price alone if you plan to spend your day traveling elsewhere.
