“A Classy Hotel with Great Service”

Marriott Milwaukee West

4 of 5 stars
Huntington Beach, CA
Jul 18, 2007

June 5, 2007 – I had the opportunity to spend one night at the Milwaukee Marriott West Hotel for a short business trip. There was plenty of convenient parking even though I arrived at about 8:30 PM. I understand the hotel was nearly full.

Check-in was fast, even by Marriott standards, taking about 30 seconds. My room was #502, an end-room on the fifth floor of the six-floor hotel. The room was extremely quiet, something that I appreciate. I also liked the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the front of the hotel.

The décor of the room was OK, but not the new bold Marriott look. However the room did have a new and super comfortable Marriott Revive king bed. I am always amazed at how comfortable these beds are. Bed linens were high quality as were the down comforter and feather pillows. Between the bed and windows was a comfortable arm chair with an ottoman and floor lamp. Lighting in the room was excellent.

The room had a two-level work desk that was quite large. The high speed internet connection was $9.95 per day. Because of my late arrival and the charge I did not use it, doing emails on my Treo instead. (I am a great fan of Marriott, and think they should stop charging for high speed internet service at full-service Marriott hotels.) The desk chair was very comfortable and the lighting good. Overall the work area was large and functional so that if needed, you could actually do some work!

There were two phones in the room. The one on the night stand was a cordless phone and the one on the desk a corded phone. The TV had a good selection of network and cable channels as well as pay-per-view movies. Video check-out was also a feature on the TV.

Being a newer hotel, the bathroom was quite large. There was a combination tub and shower. Water pressure was high and hot water came out immediately. There were plenty of towels and a good selection of bath amenities. Lighting over the vanity was very good.

A concierge lounge is located on the 6th floor. I arrived too late for food, but desert was still available. Janelle, the host in the lounge, was really friendly and enjoyable to talk with. The next morning I was happy to see hot oatmeal and scrambled eggs offered as well as continental breakfast-type items. The coffee was good and hot.

I checked out the indoor swimming pool and exercise room, but did not use them. The pool was large enough to swim laps. There were plenty of chairs, lounges, and towels. The exercise room seemed well equipped. There were several guests using the equipment every time I passed by it.

All of the hotel associates that I interacted with were friendly and helpful. Just walking through the lobby I was asked by two different associates if I needed help. I thought the level of service was high and this coupled with the friendliness of the staff causes me to give this hotel my recommendation. I look forward to going back!

“Mostly Enjoyable, Rude Staff”

Marriott Milwaukee West

2 of 5 stars
Tucson, Arizona
Jun 25, 2007

Was there for a wedding in June, traveled all day to find they had lost our reservation, even though we had a confirmation number they could not find it in their system. We waited for over an hour for them to fix the problem temporarily. The day of the wedding some of the hotel staff was VERY rude to some guests at the wedding, also dont bother eating at the restaurant unless you have an unlimited amount of time, the food is average and it takes an unimaginable amount of time to be served. As for the positives, the hotel was very clean, beds were EXTREMELY comfortable, and not all of the staff was rude. Would be a great hotel for buisness travelers, many buisness amentities.

“wonderful place for a wedding”

Marriott Milwaukee West

5 of 5 stars
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Jun 20, 2007

I had my wedding reception at this hotel in December 2006. It was perfect. The service and hospitality that they not only showed to me but also my guests was amazing. They have an in-house wedding planner that was always available to meet with (and we did a lot!), and by the time the wedding came around, the staff knew us all by first name. The evening of the wedding reception was absolutely gorgeous (right before Christmas), with beautiful decorations and a huge Christmas tree in the front lobby. We had some "drama" with a few guests, and it was handled so well that I (the bride) had no idea anything happened until the next day from my family. The rooms are very comfortable (especially the beds) and spotless-clean; there are huge floor-to-ceiling windows in each room, with a great view if your room faces south. The food is some of the best hotel restaurant food I've had, and they have a great lobby bar. Overall a wonderful place to stay and to hold functions. I would recommend it to anyone!

“Spectacular Hotel and Service!”

Marriott Milwaukee West

5 of 5 stars
Boston, MA
Apr 15, 2007

I stayed at the Marriott Milwaukee West for a work trip in April 2007. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. And, the hotel is very nice, with comfortable beds.

The best part was the housekeeping! They actually were thoughtful enough NOT to put all those crazy pillows back on the bed every day, so I didn't have to keep moving them out of the way. They also carefully cleaned the bathroom, without shoving all my toiletries into a messy corner.

The gym is actually decent size (not just a converted hotel room) and there's a small pool and hot tub, which were very clean and nice. The entire building is very well kept.

This is a great hotel, and made the week pass so much more smoothly. And, the buffet breakfast is gorgeous, with real fresh fruit (not canned stuff.) It's totally worth the money, and I'll be staying there again in a month. If you're in the MKE area, and staying west of downtown, this is totally the place to stay.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Great housekeeping, nice staff, perfectly easy
    • Disliked — It's out in the suburbs, but so was my reason for being there...

“Clean but Aloof Service”

Marriott Milwaukee West

3 of 5 stars
New York City, New York
Mar 24, 2007

I'm a frequent business traveler and I have spent several weeks at this hotel. My colleagues who stayed at the Sheraton said that this hotel is much better than the Sheraton. This hotel has clean, neat rooms, a good selection of food for all 3 meals, and probably the most impressive wine list I've seen for a hotel of this caliber and location (i.e., not a big city). However, service at times can be impersonal and cool. The cable selection of channels is extremely limited (except for news and sports channels), but this is a common complaint I have about Marriott hotels in general. Given the known high occupancy rate of this hotel, it is disappointing to discover that they frequently run out of dishes and beers at the bar (even the local beers).

    • Liked — consistency of room conditions
    • Disliked — impersonal service
