We have a beach cottage about 10 miles North of Ilwaco in Ocean Park. We make a point of getting to the Port Bistro once during each beach trip. It's that good. Everything is good, but the clam chowder made with steamer clams from Willapa Bay is excellent. Last week I saw someone having the Dungeness Crab Timbale, which was a layered salad stacked with potato salad, then roasted pepper, then the crab, then slices of avocado, all served in a drizzled red sauce. It was really good. I've eaten in all the places on the Long Beach Peninsula, and this is the one restaurant we keep coming back to.

We went over the Astoria-Megler Bridge this past week to the quaint little fishing town of Ilwaco, WA. Gorgeous scenery driing over from Seaside where we are staying in our beach cottage. The restaurant has pretty views of the marina from almost every table. We ordered a glass of the house Pinot Noir that was good but came out in a tumbler, when I asked for an appropriate wine glass, the waitress said they didn't even serve their wine in wine glasses there. I found that to be a bit odd.

The Wild King Salmon special was very good served with a corn risotto that was sweet and wonderful. The salmon was prepared very well, but just a bit on the over-done side for me. The raspberry sauce over the entree was very good. My husband enjoyed his chicken and the salad was very good with fresh, tended greens that tasted garden fresh.

Our service was very friendly and attentive, I just wish this place would get some wine glasses! I chose this restaurant for our meal from the article in the Summer Edition of the Pelican Post which showed a very nicely prepared halibut entree with a glass of Pinot Gris. After dinner we took a nice walk along the paved walking path which has severals shops, a spa and there are several places here you can book a fishing trip.

We will return to Port Bistro, a cool little addition to the Ilwaco dining scene.
